Which black boots?

I have really rubbish feet! They blister so easily and the soles are really thin so if I go for a long-ish walk they ache for days after. When I wear hiking boots they are much less painful but as lockdown begins to lift, I can't really justify spending my life in leggings and hiking boots...

So...I'm looking for some comfortable and durable black boots that also look nice. I would theoretically be using them for long walks in town, casual wear and such. I quite like doc martens on other people but not sure if they're too edgy for me? Also terrified of the breaking in period of docs and that they would seriously damage my feet! Advice please!

Have you tried Timberland? Lots of styles to choose from and all the pairs I’ve had over the years have been very comfortable and well made.

I find DM's too awful. I believe shoes should be reasonably comfortable from the start. I bought a pair of Solovair last year instead. Very similar, a very British, well made heavy duty shoe that was really quite comfortable from the start and fab after a few wears without any huge tricks or required stoicism. They are expensive. Toast carries them sometimes and I got mine marked down in a toast sale.

I haven't had to break DMs in for years so don't let that put you off.
If you don't want the lace up boots they do some lovely Chelsea boots. The flora are nice and last ages.

I second the solo air recommendation- I bought these ones a couple of months ago and they are possibly my favourite boots ever! Amazing quality, clean up great, very comfy. Buy the dubbin at the same time, I really enjoy applying it! 😂 makes them look brand new every time.

I have the same problem with my feet and have found Fitflop boots have allowed me to walk with no pain for days afterwards or any hint of a blister. I can literally walk for miles in them and not have that awful burning aching feeling afterwards.

I have funny feet, though I think in a different way from you, and unfortunately I think sometimes you just have to try and try until you find the brand that 'fits' you. For me, it's Geox, I do think the soles are extremely comfortable for anyone, but they also fit my odd shaped feet really well. Not much help while the shops are closed, but I do think trying a few brands and styles on is your best bet.
