What kind of spring coat?

Please bear with me, I know I ask a lot of stupid questions on here but as I keep repeating, I am new to the UK and the no of coats I need is bewildering. I thought I had enough coats, but lately its been very hot in London, but also occ rainy and windy. I walk daily for hours by the Thames and in parks and hate umbrellas, so I guess I need a light, non-insulated raincoat? But they are all so ugly. Also, a lot of the trenches or macs I like do not have hoods. Why? Like this one. How spooky, I was literally thinking of Faith's yellow rain coat and saw your post 2 seconds later!! It obviously made an impact on both of us

I have a North Face fleece and North Face outdoor Wind proof jacket for the spring.

It was freezing at the weekend so I wore a "Faith Howells" coat.
