Trainer search!

Help! I’m on a hunt for new trainers. I’ve worn Supergas the last two years, but I’m really struggling with backache and I think something lighter and more supportive would help.

I need something:

  • not primarily white or black
  • a supportive/cushioned insole (no converse!)
  • worn mostly with jeans, maybe a dress sometimes.
  • not Skechers Go Walks - I already have them for the garden but want something different for out and about.
  • up to £80

I’m mid 30s, going grey and fat, which makes me feel frumpy before I even think about clothes and shoes! Supergas made me feel not horrendously out of touch.

I feel like these tick most boxes apart from “not frumpy”! www.hotter.com/gb/en/chase-shoes-chases-product?selectedColour=Yellow

I’d say these - except they’re above your specified price range.

Procrastatron · 01/04/2021 10:15

I’ll go the other way and suggest these:

Or for a more subtle option these:

I think the Nike Blazer 77 is a thing this year with other retro styles.
I always find Nike comfortable and supportive

TheGoodShipObvious · 01/04/2021 10:21

I wouldn’t have thought of those Nike Air Force, but they do make me smile! I think I’d have to wait until shops open to have a look at them in person...

These are all good options so far, thank you!

I do love my Air Force 1 shadows. Mine are in a discontinued but equally bright colour way and I find the fact they have lots of colours means they actually go with everything from black to leopard print to brights. For me the Shadow design is better proportioned than the original design but you need to size down by half a size.
I’m a few years older than you and wear them with midi skirts and dresses as well as obvious things like jeans and leggings.

You can have blazers or AF1 made up in different colours if you customise them on the Nike site.

Puma Classics/States usually come in a range of colours too.

Had to report myself, personal details in post, oops.

I had just popped in to say Nike Waffle Racers x2, Uber comfy and great colour choices. Some are on offer and within price range.

TheGoodShipObvious · 02/04/2021 06:23

MonkeysandParrots I’m intrigued Wink

Thanks all, you’ve set me on a very different trainer path!

Something sporty but lots of colours, asics jolt 2 or 3, just bought some for dog walks but buying more for everyday summer outfits

Twinkie01 · 02/04/2021 09:13

My 86 year old MIL shops on hotter!

wishywashywoowoo70 · 02/04/2021 09:25

Those Blaze ones are nice. The white ones. I might get some of those myself

I'm concerned you refer to yourself as going grey and fat so feel frumpy.
Grey is a simple fix.

I too need to lose weight but I refuse to feel frumpy.
Get your trainers get your hair done and be fabulous 🔥

givememarmite · 02/04/2021 09:28

I have the airforce one and as much as I love the look of them I find them really uncomfortable. If you're after support I'd suggest the Nike Internationalist or the Waffle Racer already mentioned. They are both cushioned, bit bouncy and just really comfortable. There's loads of different colours and as PP have said you can design your own on the Nike website.

@wishywashywoowoo70 I’ve just bought myself some blazer mids in a kind of vintage off white with some light grey suede leather bits and I love them. Never thought I’d wear a high top with my sturdy ankles but they are quite streamlined as a design.

I've just ordered myself some too
I've got 20 pairs of converse here as well as about 6 pairs of trainers and casual trainers.
