Morning!

After almost a year sans make-up I'm facing up to the reality of returning to the office and life in general and am looking a concealer that doesn't go chalky but don't slide after 10 mins either! I used to use Benefit Bo-oing, but being a bit older now, I find that a little bit dry. I remember Benefit did this amazing one in a tub years age and then changed it!

I'm pushing 40 and have horrendous dark circles under my eyes. Any suggestions of something that can make me look vaguely alive?

Thanks!

Glossier stretch concealer is gorgeous and creamy and doesn't crease at all. I highly recommend it (I'm 48... )

FreshFaceTime · 31/03/2021 07:39

Have you tried a colour corrector for dark circles instead of concealer? Something peach? I have a Bobbi Brown one and I don't need to use concealer on top.

Estee lauder double wear concealer is great if you need significant coverage. I used it religiously when I had severe acne as it was the only thing to cover it! It works well on dark patches so will probably work well on dark circles (I had/have dark scaring from said acne).

Cam2020 · 31/03/2021 10:56

Brilliant, thanks for those suggestions! Never heard of Glossier or used colour correctors before so intrigued about those! Heard great things about Double Wear foundation but hadn't considered the concealer!

Just need to be abke to try things at the make up counters now!

Are you ok generally? Dark circles can be a sign of anaemia.

ElderMillennial · 31/03/2021 11:08

If it is for under eyes then a corrector is better.

Benefit did something called erase paste which is now called boing brightening concealer so you may have been thinking of that. That was more like a corrector as it was salmon coloured.

Fispi · 31/03/2021 14:20

Bobbi brown corrector. They do various shades so you can get a good match. I put it over my base (foundation/Bb cream etc) then when I'm really tired a tiny bit more foundation over the top. You only need a tiny bit lightly patted on. I dont have concealer and this works well for me.

I've just ordered the Dior Fix It yellow corrector pencil thing. A total splurge! I'll let you know if I suddenly look like I sleep 20 hours a day, waking up only to sip filtered cucumber water.

I love ordering from the Dior online shop. I can't afford their clothes (because I blow my money on £27 concealers) but the cosmetics are almost affordable. The packaging is AMAZING. Opening it, you feel like Victoria Beckham.

Sexnotgender · 31/03/2021 15:34

Tarte shape tape is the best I’ve found. Tried pretty much every high end concealer.

FromEden · 31/03/2021 18:47

Nars radiant creamy is great for under eyes. Doesnt cake or settle in fine lines at all

Really good question, actually. I'm feeling permanently tired and run down at the moment! I've found Floradix helpful in the past for slightly low iron!

That was the one! I loved that!

Ooh yes, please do, fingers crossed! I know, exactly what you mean. I have a weakness for Dior and Chanel lipsticks - so sleek!

So many great suggestions, thank you! Ive never really used Nars or Bobbi Brown and Tarte is a completely new brand to me - I'll be hitting the department stores (or what's left of them Sad) as soon as we're allowed!

Clarins instant concealer.
I have very dark circles, always have. I love this concealer.

Sexnotgender · 31/03/2021 19:46

You won’t get Tarte in stores. Either QVC or the tarte website.

NeedWineNow · 31/03/2021 20:21

Another one loving Tarte Shape Tape. In fact I use it as foundation. I dot it all over my face - you don't need much - and blend with a flat top kabuki brush. Gives a really nice finish and doesn't sink into any lines during the day.

TheScurrilousFunge · 31/03/2021 20:25

I have an Il Makiage one that's perfect - as long as I use a brush to blend it. But I think that's a small price to pay! I'm interested in the Glossier one, though. I have a lot of fine lines and while Il Makiage is good, it isn't perfect.

TheScurrilousFunge · 31/03/2021 20:27

I realise that I have contradicted myself there...

ElderMillennial · 31/03/2021 20:33

I would just be mindful that a yellow corrector won't work for everyone so you need to work out what colour you need.

Some websites help you work it out eg bobbi brown.

If you like erase paste you would probably like a similar colour corrector like a pinky or peachy one

PandaFluff · 31/03/2021 20:36

The Nars Radiant Creamy one is good. I use it over a bit of colour corrector.

SlatternIsMyMiddleName · 31/03/2021 21:39

I mourn the loss of erase paste. The benefit replacements have never been as good so I have now moved onto the Estée Lauder double wear concealer.

ElderMillennial · 01/04/2021 08:51

Benefit still has erase paste on its website but no the original shades 1, 2 and 3 that are the ones we all loved!

Appletreehat · 01/04/2021 08:53

Another vote for Tarte & Nars concealers!

ElderMillennial · 01/04/2021 09:28

The Nars one is nice. I prefer the Nars to the tarte, personally, but the tarte shape tape is a massive tube for a similar price.

There's a new shape tape out too, it's more moisturising for the eye area, but I haven't tried it

Cam2020 · 01/04/2021 12:01

Thanks for all the recommendations! Seens I'm not the only one sad that the original Erase Paste was discontinued!

I've seen this pop up a couple of times on my FB and was curious!
