Would you risk using this tan?

I’ve got a bottle of fake bake (the flawless spray bottle one).
I didn’t think I had it that long but I knew I’d bought it online so I checked my order history and it was purchased in may 2019. 😳

I’ve still got half a bottle left.... it looks ok. Around the nozzle still looks brown and not greenish.
But should I use it?

Could you try it on a patch of skin first and see the result to avoid any potential fake tan disasters all over?

Spied · 30/03/2021 19:17

I wouldn't. Having to go out to buy the fake tan remover-which is a load of rubbish and trying in vain to scrub off the mess would have me wishing I'd just bought a new bottle in the first place.
(This was me last year with Bondi SandsGrin)

Hmm.... what’s the best inconspicuous place to test it? I’ve been prepping for 2 days in the hope of slapping on some self tan (exfoliating & moisturising, etc 😬) I was rather hoping to wake up a bronze goddess after a year of being a pasty ghost.

I do have a gradual tan I could use instead but it’s just not the same is it?

Ah, see that’s my worry. I can just imagine I’ll end up looking like shrek doing the school run in the morning 😫

What a waste, I actually quite liked that tanning stuff.

I’d use it without a second thought. If it’s in a tube/bottle it most likely has a shelf life of about 24 months from opening. I would be reluctant if it was a pot that I was sticking my hands in, maybe, but in a tube it’s not like you are in amongst it.

I’m the sort of person who sees best before dates on food as a guide, though.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 30/03/2021 21:55

Just re-read that it is a spray. I would 100% use it.

ThePontiacBandit · 30/03/2021 22:05

I had a fake tan in the cupboard, went to use it, it smelt awful, could definitely tell it had gone off! I’d do a patch test maybe inner thigh? Should be okay if it smells okay though.

kereh · 30/03/2021 22:09

It wouldn't occur to me not to use it. It's fake tan, what do you think will happen?

Henneypenny7 · 30/03/2021 22:33

It will be fine just might not last as long

PomegranateSeed · 31/03/2021 07:56

I opened a brand new bottle of Skinny Tan mousse yesterday and it was completely green. It had been in the cupboard a while but unused in the box. Didn’t want to risk it so no I wouldn’t.

MoltonSilver · 31/03/2021 09:38

Yeah, I'd use it. I've had bottles knocking around longer than that. They've been fine.

Mellonsprite · 31/03/2021 17:22

I’ve used stuff older than that. If it smelled bad I’d give it a kiss though,

Mellonsprite · 31/03/2021 17:22

A miss not a kiss!

Would you risk using this tan?
wingsnthat · 31/03/2021 17:25

I wouldn’t. But I have sensitive skin and older opened products are apparently a trigger for me (fragrance sensitivity)
