Hi all,

Looking for some advice. I’m mid 40s and desperate to do all I can to look after my skin and stave off the signs of aging for as long as poss! I’ve heard amazing things about both of these products and have gone mad and bought both but am quite clueless really as to how to use them and whether I can even use them together at all although I think I’ve read that some do eventually. So I have been using p50 for about 3 weeks, just twice a week so far. My skin feels lovely after using it but I’m getting some redness/dry patches just under my eyes which I’m keeping at bay with moisturisers etc but wouldn’t want to get any worse. Any advice on that first of all? And I also now have Dermatica tret 0.015% with niacinamide 4% and azelaic acid 4%. So what should my plan be now? Stick with just the p50 for now? Stop that for now and just use the tret? What should my long term plan be for these?

Thanks so much for any help!

Don't use tret with P50, use one or the other.

I'd keep going with the P50 alone (twice a week max) until you know how to manage your skin with it. It is strong. Avoid the sensitive areas completely for a week(and perhaps put a barrier cream on the area so that it doesn't leech onto that skin). Continue for another month making sure to use SPF50. You may need a hydrating serum (Vichy hylauronic one is good as a non-scary intro). Put that on under your moisturiser.

Once you have managed to control the P50 and how your skin reacts then consider the retinol. Use it only in the evening and not on a day when you use P50. I would even stop using P50 for the first month of dermatica. Similar approach to the above, twice a week in the evening to start, serum and moisturise well about 30-40 mins after putting it on. Don't forget your sunscreen.

@FreeButtonBee thank you so much for your reply - I really appreciate that. I do use the ordinary buffet and hyaluronic which I feel are nice and hydrating, I’m struggling to find an spf that’s light enough and doesn’t make me break out. Any suggestions? Thanks again

Suncream is a constant trauma. I am currently using a Korean one but they have a bit of a bad rep at the moment so I won't repurchase it once it's done.
Biore UV Aqua is light but quite alcohol-y.
LRP anthelios get a pretty good review - I am planning on trying one of those next.
Altruist are also supposed to be good but i haven't tried
