I've decided to treat myself after everything that's happened these last 12 months. I'm thinking a nice elegant classic timeless silver ring, budget £500. I'm not usually a jewellery person so any help and suggestions on shops or designs or what to look for would be really appreciated, thank you.

Lots of choice with that budget. This may be too modern for your taste but I recommend London Rocks in Hatton Garden:

I have a lot of jewellery from them and it's top quality, hand made and well priced.

Try a local independent jeweller if you have any local to you.
I got a silver ring weighing 6g with 1.5 ct of baguette cut diamonds custom made for under 250 and it was designed as a one off. You would get something spectacular for double that price if you were willing to forego a brand name.

This lady has some beautiful rings!

@ZednotZee I live a stones throw away from Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter and hadn't even thought of that! I can get something bespoke and help a local business too!!

I’ve sent you a PM Op.

I wouldn't have thought there's such a thing as a silver ring that's worth £500, IYSWIM. You should definitely think about adding some gold or precious stones for that!

GrumpyHoonMain · 31/03/2021 18:43

For £500 I would be using 18c gold. You can get amazing diamond rings with 18c gold in that price bracket if you aren’t too fussed about the quality of the diamond.

Onedayatatime43 · 31/03/2021 18:55

Silver is cheap. Even Tiffany rings made of Sterling silver are cheaper than £500. I’ve made a ring for my husband which is probably about 7 grammes, it cost me about £8 for materials.
I like Georg Jensen.

All my DM's rings have been designed for her with help from my Dad. Her first one, silver, she's passed on to me and the rest have been gold with precious stones.

Part time jeweller here! If it's a ring for daily wear and especially if you want it with stones I would not go for silver, it's a soft metal and over time with daily wear the shank will crack and risk of stones coming out. Go for white gold instead. Wear to silver rings can be repaired but am guessing you want one that doesn't require lots of upkeep and repairs aren't always particularly cheap to do.

@SummaLuvin

Lisa Eldridge
Is an absolute rip off for what she creates. Look at Anna K Baldwin, she's been doing similar styles for years before.
