Something that works, doesn’t turn you orange, and doesn’t smell foul?

I really like clinique fresh pressed but couldn't afford it long term.

Now using The Ordinary Ascobyl Glucoside Solution (it contains stabilised vitamin c) and I'm very happy with it. They also do a Vitamin C suspension but I've not tired it.

I've just started to use Medik8's C-Tetra and I'm really liking it. I've got quite dry skin, and it's an oily type of consistency. However not too heavy and it's fine under make up. Gives a nice glow and skin looking a bit clearer already.

allofthecheese · 29/03/2021 17:17

Oh and it's a stable form of vit c so doesnt oxidise at all and smells citrusy. Not the cheapest though!

Yep Medik8 are the absolute dons of vitamin C. You literally cannot go wrong with them. They have both cream and serum formulas as well.

lumene is lovely on the skin

Lululu22 · 29/03/2021 19:58

@NotExactlyHappyToHelpNotExactlyHappy, @allofthecheese ... how long do you get out of the Medik8 Vitamin C, it looks like quite a small bottle but they all do! Thanks.

Lululu22 · 29/03/2021 20:00

Actually, can I re-phrase that question! There are several C Tetras! Which do you recommend.

Geamhradh · 29/03/2021 20:05

Vichy LiftActiv.
I've used:
The Ordinary- foul foul foul. Never again. Nothing I've ever tried of theirs will be repurchased. Over the years I've fallen for the "oooh fancy chemical name and only a fiver" Really must stop Grin

Garden of Wisdom- not bad but strange oily-cream texture.

La Roche Posay- currently using this. Won't repurchase. Stupid dropper but not dropper applicator. Doesn't smell at all. Bit slimy (like a hyaluronic texture)

Vichy LiftActiv. I've had about 6 bottles of this and it's not only the nicest texture (it's just a water really) but it's the one that I immediately see a difference on my skin. My holy grail of Vit C.

Geamhradh · 29/03/2021 20:06

Whichever you use, look for L-Ascorbic as that's the best, most skin stable vit C.

NotExactlyHappyToHelp · 29/03/2021 20:07

@Lululu22 I’ve got the C-Tetra intense which has been renamed luxe I think. It’s a higher concentration which I need and I have pretty hardcore skin so I’m not prone to sensitivity. If I were sensitive or dry I’d look at their cream or the regular C Tetra.

It lasts me bloody ages. I only need a couple of drops and a bottle lasts me maybe 9 months? That’s a rough guess mind, might be longer.

This is the one I've bought https://www.facethefuture.co.uk/products/medik8-c-tetra?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIqbvfvvK17wIViKkYCh3nZQOSEAUYASABEgL7aDD_BwE (this place was the cheapest I found at the time) but I do have very sensitive skin so wanted to try the most gentle one from them first. It's fab. Not sure how long it'll last as I've only been using it a short time. But I use daily. I assume it'll last around 6 months for me.

Typology

schmalex · 29/03/2021 20:40

I second the Vichy. I've been using this for a few weeks and can see the difference to my skin.

maradesbois · 29/03/2021 21:44

I use Niod and really rate it. On my second bottle, use it in the morning and retinol in evening and really notice a difference. It is also oil free which I prefer.

Dirtyplates · 29/03/2021 21:55

Oskia super C Capsules, they are my favourite.

HeyMicky · 29/03/2021 21:57

Allies of Skin, I got some in my advent calendar and it's been excellent

Lululu22 · 29/03/2021 22:34

Thanks @NotExactlyHappyToHelp and @allofthecheese - it lasts ages then!

Lndnmummy · 29/03/2021 23:13

I use skinceuticals or Paulas choice. I swear I go orange though but thought that was my imagination .

Flambola · 29/03/2021 23:30

Skinceuticals CE Ferulic - although it does smell like hot dog water. It’s my one skincare splurge and I think it’s fantastic.

Lndnmummy · 30/03/2021 08:59

Can I ask everyone of the one you use make your face orange? I think this happens with Paulas Choice for me but I wasn’t so sure. Has others experienced this?

bonfireheart · 30/03/2021 09:01

My vitamin c serum from facetheory is white/translucent in colour and definitely doesn't make me go orange.

BigBeachWales · 30/03/2021 14:58

The glossier one. Love it. Obsessed with all their products!

lookdeepintotheparka · 30/03/2021 19:30

Has anyone tried the Murad vit C glycolic serum? Trying to work out if it's really worth the hefty £75 price tag after seeing it reviewed by Sali Hughes in the Guardian!

Otherwise I like the sound of the Vichy one recommended above.

I've been using H&B own brand which is vit c and hyaluronic acid which is ok - not made much visible difference to my skin.

CakeInMyFace · 31/03/2021 07:03

I've been using Lumene and love it. It feels lovely on the skin and isnt sticky, absorbs quickly and smells gorgeous too Smile
