Water flossers

Does anyone use these? I got fixed braces at the start of March and find threading the floss between each bracket difficult. They are fairly expensive though so not sure if worth it

I do. I have a waterpik one, had it about 3 years. I have found it well worth the money.

I had one when I had braces. I think it was a Phillips one. It did the job pretty well but was hideous to clean. As soon as I got rid of the braces it was easier to floss and I chucked out the water flosser. It think it's well worth it for the duration of having the braces.

I use one every day as I have gum disease and hated using those flossing pick things! I think they're really good and so does my dentist - have had no recent problems with my teeth at all.

I just have the cheapie Amazon version which is fine especially if you're not sure how you'll get on with one.

I can't stand using my Waterpik because it makes the most godawful noise and has done since purchase. But I'd still really like to use one for teeth rather than just cleaning the sink and tumble dryer condenser and absolutely hate using floss or interdental picks I wish Oral B still did their Hummingbird because that was tolerable

It's the 'Fairywill' version - sorry can't link on my phone! There are usually deals on them so I paid about £25. DH and I both have one - they are quite noisy and take a bit of getting used to!

I have an airflosser which puffs airs between your teeth. But it also has a compartment for water or mouthwash so acts as a waterflosser too. I'm pretty happy with it.

I use the Waterpix one and love it. I find it quite addictive and want to use it after each meal. I have a fixed retainer in my bottom teeth so it really helps and saves faffing with different types of floss.

Yes, I use one and I am rather addicted to it now! Does take some getting used to but well worth the money imo. Dentist recommended Waterpix but there are lots available right now.

Just stopped working though and now I’m back to floss and those little brushes

Yes love this waterpik one. Strugglex with floss on my bottom teeth as tight but this is amazing and so quick. Just dont go too hard at first as comes out at some force.

A water flosser can't replace proper flossing.
I've used a Waterpik for years, I've got tightly spaced teeth and it's satisfying to see the bits of stuck food come shooting out.
My dentist (and google) told me it's not as effective at removing plaque as flossing so I do both.

I like my waterpik but, like Marin, my dentist isn't a fan of them.

I have just ordered one. I can’t floss as my teeth are too tight. It’s impossible. So I hope its better than not flossing at all.

How do you use it without getting soaked?

My dentist and the hygienist always tell me that flossing is much better. But I hate flossing! I have the Philips Waterpik and still haven't really worked out how to use it without making a massive mess!

I use one but only because I got mine free from Phillips.
With braces we recommended tepe brushes not floss.

Any tips on keeping the rubber bands around the brackets clear? Mine are stained yellow, they get replaced this Thursday but be interested in keeping next ones clear

To not get soaked put in desired position in mouth and then turn on low then switch up higher. Turn off before you remove from mouth.

I have the cordless Waterpik. The resevoir is tiny and used so quickly, and I've just ordered the plug in one with the half litre reservoir. I will use the cordless one if I'm going away (yeah, how unlikely at the moment) or when I'm lazy and just to focus on the gums around some crowns.

I think the best attachment for gum disease is supposed to be the pik pocket tip. There is a special orthodontic tip for braces etc.

I use the Waterpik in addition to brushing and flossing.

Mine arrived today and its great for getting food out of braces but I can see why you need to do in addition to normal flossing. I still love it, used it twice already

Waterpik here too but do use warm water if your teeth are sensitive
