Whatever happened to Gina shoes?

Do you remember everyone wearing them 20 years ago? All the bedazzled miles?

Then they completely disappeared off the radar and I presumed they'd gone bust. But no! They're still around!

But no buzz whatsoever - I haven't heard of anyone wearing them. No celebs and no regular folks either.

What happened??

I remember those too! Could never afford a pair but my friend had some for her wedding. Funny how these things come and go in terms of everyone raging about them.

You still see them in the Middle East particularly the flat one strap sliders.

Nanasueathome · 28/03/2021 13:18

I’ve got a pair of Gina shoes...lots of sparkle

I think I’ve worn them once but I so, so needed them at the time

PrimeraVez · 28/03/2021 13:29

I was going to say - I live in Dubai and half the girls in my office live in Gina shoes, especially the flat sliders!

ElspethFlashman · 28/03/2021 13:32

Ooh so clearly they've concentrated on the UAE market. Interesting. Maybe that's why you don't hear of them over here.

I would love to know if the strategy is paying off for them.

I'll never forget Posh Spice in her super high diamond Gina heels with the toe post that looked so sore!

I also see the flat sliders worn quite a lot. Thinking about it, I would still wear mine in the summer with the right outfit, although I can't remember when I l actually did wear them last. I love a bit of sparkle!

I've got a pair of red satin heels with loads of diamante from Gina. Bought them years ago in the sale for a black tie do. Definitely 'car/bar' heels. Look fabulous but you can't wear them all night!

ElspethFlashman · 28/03/2021 16:20

God they sound amazing though.

I have a pair of high heeled sandals smothered in crystals which I bought for a ball. Got them from their Bond Street shop back in 2007 which is no longer there. They are gorgeous but weren't at all comfortable. I also got a lovely bag at the same time. I can no longer wear heels but love them and won't part with them as they bring back happy memories of great nights out.

NeedWineNow · 28/03/2021 20:16

@1moreglassplease that's where I got mine! It was the most of ever spent on a pair of shoes, particularly something so frivolous, but I felt so good coming out of the shop with my carrier bag. Like you I've still got them and will never part with them. I might take them on the cruise that we've got booked next year and hope I can still walk in heels Grin

NeedWineNow · 28/03/2021 20:32

Here's mine!

Whatever happened to Gina shoes?

Oh they're definitely timeless. A good buy!

NeedWineNow they are exactly you like mine, but mine are just silver. I loved them, even though they weren't made for dancing the night away Grin. I felt so glamorous in them so I hope you get to wear yours again soon.

Like you I come out of the shop feeling like the bees knees with the posh bag and showed everyone in the office when I got back!
