I have an upcoming zoom interview and of course, I want to give the best impression

However my hair looks like shit Sad I have 2-3 inches of roots whilst my ends are starting to look ratty as I’m overdue a salon visit!

I haven’t made an effort with my hair for a long time and tbh, have forgotten what to do!

Please give me a good hair care routine that could make it healthier and shinier? Also would appreciate any zoom tips/tricks. Do you think I should bother doing anything with my roots? Thought it’s difficult to disguise them at this stage Blush

Run some oil through it (castor oil/ baby oil/ anything!). Leave for 30 mins then wash and condition as normal. Makes a big difference. Can you put your hair up? Makes it look a lot tidier. Zoom helps as you can just change the angle of the camera. And good luck with the interview. Smile

I don't have a zoom subscription but using it for free it still has a very strong airbrush. I look much better on zoom than I do in real life. I actually moved mine down a bit in intensity as it looked unrealistic. Try logging on on your laptop and starting a meeting and you'll see what you look like on zoom. You will probably be pleasantly surprised.

@Fairydustrust thank you, I have a treatment in now! Excited to see the results. I could tie it back but I look better with my hair down haha

@moirarosebabay ooo thanks for the tip. Just tried it and I look the same, but I’ll mess around with the settings! Wink

Random but on Zoom, is the camera flipped? As in will the others in the meeting see what I see, or the flipped/mirrored version?

How long is your hair? I cut my long hair myself and it really gave it a lift.
Also can you get a hair dye similar colour to your roots and give yourself thin highlights all the way down to even our the roots?

wingsnthat · 27/03/2021 22:57

@mayneedabiscuit oh nice! I have a salon appointment on 12 April so won’t risk anything drastic, but will try your highlight idea with a root tint spray?

My natural hair is brunette and length is blonde, so I think dragging my root out more might help actually! Thanks

It’s like a generic mid-length, a grown out long bob!

Go into settings and turn the airbrush up. You can also flip the camera. You can also use Snapchat type filters but probably not appropriate in an interview settings. Use a laptop. It's still quite harsh on an I phone. Settings is like a cog. It's quite tricky to find but should be in the top right hand corner.

OP I have your problem. I have about 2 Zoom meetings every day.

I have opted for hairbands to cover up my 3 inches of grey roots. I have had compliments from people who know me ("I like your new look") and people who don't know me don't know any different.

I bought 4 from Seasalt, to ring the changes: www.seasaltcornwall.co.uk/accessories/handyband-headbands

I prefer the headbands to the handy bands - but have 2 or each - they are still wide enough to cover the grey and I wear them pulled down a bit onto my forehead so my hairline doesn't show at all.
