Kitten Heels

What do you think of these shoes- are they elegant enough to wear to a wedding? I would be wearing them with a longish floaty dress- dress comes to just above the ankle. I'm a size 12. I've seen the mumsnet hate for kitten heels before but wondered if these might book and not be too kitteny. I'm not amazing in high heels as have bunions but would go higher if these are thought ugly.

Yes
But...I assume you haven't tried them on? Sling backs are high risk and could ruin your day (and your moves on the dance floor) if they slip off all the time.

Oh I absolutely love them FreekStar. Perfect for a wedding with your long, floaty dress, then they could be worn with ankle grazers, shorter dresses & skirts etc. I think I may order a pair for myself!

FreekStar · 27/03/2021 17:52

I definitely wouldn't be wearing them without a trial run @CushionsandCandles. I actually like slingback as long as the strap sits high enough to stay on.

Other options was this one but I have a narrow heel and am not good at walking and keeping court shoes on at the heel- my preference would actually be a shoe that has an ankle strap but not found any in the right colour- needs to be a similar pink to these two. www.hobbs.com/product/elouise-suede-stiletto-court-shoes/0120-BO22-002H070-DUSKY-PINK-40.html

I had these, in different colour. They looked really nice on foot, not frumpy or too Theresa May, and were very comfortable to wear, however quality shockingly poor. I wore them all but three times and on the third occasion one of the heels completely broke off. Expected much better for the price and from the brand.

Jones do some very similar but with a higher/less kitten-ish heel if that is what you are after. Personally I prefer the Hobbs ones!

Really @Mozartinmyfanjo? I have other shoes from Hobbs and never had any issues!

Those Jones ones are nice- not pink enough though. It says they are grey although they look a nude pink on my screen

Ideally I'd like the style of the green ones above but they are a bit too high and obviously not pink.

Maybe l was unlucky. I buy a fair bit of clothes in Hobbs and never had issues till my first pair of their shoes, which sufficiently put me off buying any more. FWIW l bought these for the wedding and they worked well. They are pretty and as mentioned very comfortable. I just wish l had more wear out of them!

KirstenBlest · 27/03/2021 18:57

Check that they are comfortable. I have some kitten heel slingbacks from Asda (very high maintenance, me) and I have worn those all day for a wedding.

The Hobbs ones are nice.

FreekStar · 27/03/2021 19:06

I LOVE the Boden ones. Not sure I could manage heels that high though.

I like the Hobbs ones op. I don’t get the MN hate for kitten heels; Audrey Hepburn wore them and looked the epitome of elegance in them. That’s good enough for me.

gimmiesomethingfast · 27/03/2021 20:18

Bloody hell ive just ordered the leopard print kitten heels from Hobbs! Bad influence!

FreekStar · 27/03/2021 21:38

Oooh! Leopard, love it! Be warned their deliveries are slow- ordered a dress last week and it took 8 days to arrive!

(The first ones)

Watchingthetelly · 28/03/2021 12:16

Really like them as well OP

Mint Velvet do lovely kitten heel shoes with a strap rather than as a sling back:

Iamthewombat · 28/03/2021 14:23

The first pair you posted are fine. Re the kitten heel hatred: can’t speak for other critics but I’m put off when the heel looks a bit apologetic, as in ‘we’ve stuck a tiny heel on this shoe to make it look a bit jazzy’. The Hobbs slingbacks you posted are in proportion and will look good.

JMAngel1 · 28/03/2021 14:37

Kitten heels are having a huge comeback - you will be the height of style Grin

FreekStar · 28/03/2021 17:41

I love the Mint Velvet ones- they are not the right colour for my dress but I really might get them anyway- they would go with a lot of things! This could turn out to be expensive! Grin

Kitten heels just remind me of Theresa May. She loved a kitten heel.
