..... what colour eyeshadow do you use?

I use greys at the moment. I've tried brown but I look ill.

Ive read a lot about eyes "popping" when the right colour is used. I don't think mine are popping at the moment.

Thoughts, o wise ones?

Mac Teddy is supposed to be good for blue eyes.

BML123 · 27/03/2021 11:02

Neutral pink tones for everyday and gold shimmer for nights. Also experiment with blue shadow and lining eyes for nights out as that definitely makes eyes a feature but is a fine line between amazing and a slightly dodgy 80s throw back

StrawberryPi · 27/03/2021 11:27

I like a slightly metallic gold/bronze crayon which I use all round my eyes. I've had various brands including ultra cheap (hema) and more expensive. My eyes are a slightly brighter blue but quite deeply set and this seems to work well and I often get compliments on it. It's also super easy to apply and for most occasions that aren't super dressy I can get away with using just this and mascara on my eyes.

Buggerthebotox · 27/03/2021 12:12

Thanks all. I use powders and never really thought of crayons/cremes. I'm in a Rimmel rut I think. I've splashed out on some Estee Lauder foundation but need to update the rest of the stuff I use.

I had to go so far back to find a photo of me in makeup GrinHmmSad Anywhere, you can see the gold crayon on me here. My eyes look greyer in this photo than in real life!

*anyway!!

FoxyJoxy · 27/03/2021 12:44

Following with interest.
I've got dark blue, deep set eyes and normally wear a neutral BB Bone. I've got dark circles and grey shadow makes me look as if I've got black eyes.
I could do with some advice.

dividedwefall · 27/03/2021 12:51

I wear mauve, pale pink or light/silvery grey during the day and for going out usually a metallic pale purple, pale shimmery, green (in summer) or silvers and dark greys.

I think it mostly depends on your overall colouring though, rather than eye colour itself. I can't wear anything with an orange/bronze base as I look like a corpse. I have pink toned pale skin and dark hair so even my eyeshadow has to be 'cool' or 'pink' toned.

Damfino · 27/03/2021 13:43

I think blue eyes stand out most in copper & bronze shades. ELF do no budge shadow sticks in "copper chic" and "bronze metal", worth a try at £5 each?

Delatron · 27/03/2021 15:44

I have dark blue deep set eyes and not many eyeshadows look good so I kind of gave up. I was told purple would make them pop and had them done at a make up counter once and looked awful, like I’d been punched.

A very pale gold looks ok. That’s about it. I think most eyeshadows accentuate eyes and when your eyes are quite large anyway I’m not sure they need to look any bigger.

Buggerthebotox · 27/03/2021 15:48

I think I'm going to give the ELF one a go. Can't go wrong for £5.

Amethyst or a dark purple liner and a neutral shadow

marchduck · 27/03/2021 18:18

I have deep set blue eyes. I love a smoky eye look on other people but it makes me look like I have a black eye. A bit of sparkle is better for me than a matte shadow. I have a couple of the UD Naked palettes but I find quite a few of the shades are too dark for me.
I think pale shades of gold, bronze and copper work well on my eyes.
These are highlighting / contouring palettes but I just use them as eye shadows and all the shades work for me

silentpool · 27/03/2021 18:31

Another vote for bronze for day time.

Buggerthebotox · 27/03/2021 18:51

Gee thanks folks. Plenty of food for thought...

I have very dark grey/blue eyes that are deep set. Pinkish tone skin and dark hair. I look shit with most eyeshadows.
I think mauve or mid grey work best for me. I tried blush colours and I looked like I had ebola

Mellonsprite · 28/03/2021 00:51

I had Pale pink with a deeper grey pink, and a grey liner on Friday. My hair is dark brown with no warmth so my over all look is ‘cool’ toned.
It was from a revolution palette which I think is a copy of urban decay.

QueenPaw · 28/03/2021 02:28

Peaches, golds, copper
Elf bite size eyeshadow palettes are about £3, the pumpkin pie one would be perfect

I like cool mauve, brown, and pinky browns. I also like the ELF crayons. Revlon do nice ones too. But the ELF palettes might be a better way of trying different colours. They're often on 3 for 2 in superdrug so you could get 3 very different shades for a tenner and play around with them to see what suits you.

Pinkywoo · 28/03/2021 08:58

I mostly wear gold, bronze, copper and browns. My eyes normally look darker than this but I was in the sun, it's not a great photo but it gives you the idea!

Bananaman123 · 28/03/2021 11:33

warms peach, browns more on the orange side, pinks look ok but the warmer peach and browns make my eyes pop

Purpleblondelady · 29/03/2021 12:48

I have darkish blue eyes, not deep set so much and I tend to stick to dark grey too. I have read that browns are suppose to suit blue eyes but I just look tired. I love purple eye make-up but they tend to bring out any redness in skin. I'm not sure if going for a blue shade of purple might help that. But I have also read that people with blue eyes shouldn't wear blue eye makeup because it's the makeup that pops and not your eye colour!

I recently did some product testing and was sent a pallet to test that had a rose gold colour in it, I would never have chosen the colour myself but it did make me look a bit more awake and my eye colour pop a bit more. I tend wear darker clothes so I also go for darker eye make up so I think what colours you suit depends on quite a few factors.

Hema were great for eyeshadow sticks but they don't deliver to the UK since Brexit and I am gutted, I loved Hema stuff.
