What is wrong with my nail (horrible photos)?

Does anyone know what is going on with this horrible nail? Have I damaged it by pushing back my cuticles? It’s still growing normally but the bumpy bit isn’t coming “up”. (My nails are always painted so no-one is seeing this!)

Sorry! I did put a warning in the thread title. It looks fine now it’s painted again, I promise.

Just updating to say I saw the pharmacist earlier and he said it is definitely not infected, fungal or otherwise, but is some sort of "trauma". He also said it is likely to fall off (!) but that it could take months for that to actually happen.

Thank you to everyone who posted, particularly those who encouraged me to get it checked out - I'm glad I did.

My daughter's nail fell off after a picture fell on it but it also took a while. It grew back exactly the same so don't worry!

I have never been a particularly girly girl and as such have huge gaps concerning things that other women seem to instinctively know: Could I ask, why would you push your cuticles back? Surely it must be painful.

I had something like this on a toe. It got worse and I thought it was an infection, the GP said it was a paranychia or something similar and gave me antibiotic cream, however very quickly the nail started to lift and it got a horrible fungal infection in it. I had to have tablets for a couple of months to clear it. Be very careful with this and keep your eye on it.
