Petites - where do you shop?

Pinchpot · 25/03/2021 15:56

Such a limited range online for those aged 30 years plus.

Any suggestions especially for jeans/jeggings?

Where do you buy gym leggings?

Any petites out there, please post your favourite brands!

I'm 5ft 4 and find I'm a bit tall for petite ranges as things like the rise in petite jeans aren't long enough. However I do have quite short legs.

I buy gym leggings from Sweaty Betty in their 7/8 length, which is designed to be ankle grazing length on taller women and then regular length on shorter women.

For jeans I usually buy normal length skinny jeans and then crop them with a frayed hem to ankle grazer length or sometimes roll them up. Mint Velvet faux leather leggings in short length are good, too.

HiGunny · 25/03/2021 19:04

I'm 5ft 2 and usually buy jeans from anywhere that does different lengths. So M&S, Next, Topshop Jamie and Levi's are usually good for me. I generally go for mid rise jeans as high rise just feel way too high.

Funnily enough I've never had a problem with regular size leggings, I guess they sit on or below the ankle for me rather than above!

Funnily enough I've never had a problem with regular size leggings, I guess they sit on or below the ankle for me rather than above. You must have long legs HiGunny. I can only wear cropped or teenage size leggings.

LOLbebe · 25/03/2021 19:26

Next and M&S do petite leggings, otherwise 7/8 standard length. Skinny jeans from River Island or Miss Selfridge (make sure they are definitely the petite range as confusingly they also do a short length too which is too long Confused). M&S for non skinny short jeans- they have a pretty decent range of fits in short length.

Pinchpot · 25/03/2021 19:26

I find 7/8 tend to be baggy at the ankles.

What about tops?

Are there any brands who don't necessarily do petite but whose jumpers, t-shirts, casual or dressy tops still fit well?

Thanks for responses!

And sometimes I buy from kids departments! Especially Mango

Shisham · 25/03/2021 19:29

Boo hoo and newlook sell petite clothing

EvaporatedHour · 25/03/2021 19:30

I usually wear Petit Bateau T-shirt's in kids Age 14 size and they fit perfectly.

DodgyPainting · 25/03/2021 19:32

I’m 5’ . I like Uniqlo, GAP, Seasalt, Hobbs, Esprit, the occasional bit from ASOS but generally way too young for me. Same for Topshop.

Lovemusic33 · 25/03/2021 19:32

New look and TU for jeans and trousers.

Used to buy from next but the quality has got really poor and the fits not great, sizes very so much.

Pinchpot · 25/03/2021 19:32

What size would you be to order a kids age 14 out of interest?

Next for leggings and jeans
Fat Face

Oblomov21 · 25/03/2021 19:40

I can't seem to find any good fitting petite jeans.

theorangesisters · 25/03/2021 20:27

I often buy from the children's ranges in Zara, Mango, H&M, GAP especially with items that are the same or very similar to the adult ranges. I'm 5ft 2.5 and usually go for an age 12-13 or age 13, which fits 158 cm. I also buy from petite ranges such as Topshop or Miss Selfridge and once I know what suits me I buy a lot of things secondhand/nearly new on Vinted, Depop or Ebay.

AColdDuncanGoodhew · 25/03/2021 21:52

5ft 1, buy my jeans from Tesco - best i’ve ever found, Matalan also do a great petite range. Used to get a lot from Dorothy Perkins too

Devlesko · 25/03/2021 21:58

I can't find dresses. It used to be ok but the ones I like are either too short, or too long.
Tried every combination.
Maxi dresses and skirts forget it.
There's so much choice if you are young.
My dil is petitie and looks lovely in her clothes
We are both 4ft 11.

Pinchpot · 26/03/2021 06:37

Dresses are very hard to find especially midi one's which even in petite tend to hand closer to ankles.

Do Tesco do petite in jeans or a short version?

Biden petite or banana republic/next/asos all do a petite range. I know it is difficult re tops, I’m very short waisted and 5’ 2 so can only wear petite tops and not a huge range out there unfortunately..

Ynwa12345 · 26/03/2021 07:00

I got my fav jeans from Topshop and more recently from a thread on here Sainsbury girlfriend Jeans in petite (was trying another look but skinny jeans suit me much better!). Leggings funnily enough tried them all and all bunch up at bottom except some ones from decathlon my H put in the basket one day for me! They are perfect length. Also M and S short jean length also good.
Recently picked up some good move m and s range gym leggings in petite fit ok
I'm 5 1 size 12-14.

LOLbebe · 26/03/2021 07:52

I'm 5'3 and size 8/10. Age 13/14 or maybe 15 in most shops fit me expect the really skinny jeans. I also bought some nice basics last summer (denim shorts, plain skirts and t shirts) from the girls range in TU.

SoundOfFalsetto · 26/03/2021 08:17

5ft 4" here. Boden petit jeans and biker pants are the perfect length for me. They always have a lot of petit stuff in the sale.

Cripesalive · 26/03/2021 08:42

5’2. Sezane 7/8 jeans are the perfect length and I find their clothes generally fit really well despite not being petite. Also j crew and Boden petite for trousers and coats which I find easily swamp me.

LeeMiller · 26/03/2021 18:43

I also wear Sezane 7/8 jeans. I think French brands are generally good for petites - I’m 5’2 and short waisted and I have a lot from Sezane, Rouje, Maje, Petit Bateau, La Redoute that fits well.

MargosKaftan · 26/03/2021 20:31

5'1" here. Boden petite jeans for me. Not very fashionable brand but fit without fuss. New look petite is a good length too, but quality isn't great. Manly for fashionable stuff I dont mind not lasting.
