Tell me about Korean exfoliating mitts!

I've ordered a neom candle and have a book saved for an epic soak as I have purchased aforementioned mitts. Has anybody used these before and if they have, any tips or advice beyond the obvious don't use it on the face? Smile

I don't get loads of skin off but I bath three times a week and use them all the time

I tried the new ones (pink) but they were too abrasive , went back to my old green cloths
I think maybe the new ones need a bit of a soak.

Well impressed at what came off Shock

My skin feels lovely , not itchy like if I use those white exfoliant gloves and not messy like scrubs .

I was so disappointed with these. Tried a couple of times and got nothing! Skin felt same as normal after and the scrubbing was uncomfortable.

Cindersrellie · 27/03/2021 20:05

Oh no, I've been using mine incorrectly! Had been just wetting it then adding shower gel and lathering it up, then rubbling my body, like a heathen.

BigSkyLife · 27/03/2021 20:08

Do you scrub while you’re still in the water? Or wait until you’ve finished in the bath and then scrub in the shower?

IveNameChangedAgain2020 · 27/03/2021 20:14

I bought some and thought they were crap. Do you guys normally exfoliate? Before you got the Korean towels?

Beyond rubbing down with a towel instead of patting to dry, I don't exfoliate with products etc. Except maybe the odd sugar/coconut oil scrub that i whip up. The gloves have made a difference but then again, I followed up with liberal application of cetraben so have paid lots of attention to my body today which is different.

Why aren't you meant to use soap or shower gel with them?

Jobseeker19 · 27/03/2021 21:17

Buy the Moroccan hammam mitts.

Have a hot bath, with the door closed for extra steam.

Wash your body with bar soap.

Then stand up and start scrubbing slowly by your armpit or knees to get the rolls going

Jobseeker19 · 27/03/2021 21:23

They do work but it needs to be steamy.

You can feel the dead skin firstly with you untitled hand start rubbing your should and you should feel it start rolling.

Then use the mitt.

If you have any oil on your body or hair it won't work.

Your skin needs to be washed with soap.

But no soap on the mitts. Just wet.

The back of the neck is also a good place to start.

Once you get it going you will be surprised how much comes off!

These are fab. You need to soak the cloth first in the bath I find. Also it work best on skin that's just damp. Soak in bath, stand up or stick chosen limb out of the water, let air dry till damp then scrub..gross but so satisfying!

Geppili · 27/03/2021 21:44

My DH can tell when I've used mine! He says it makes my skin incredibly soft!

StrawberryLipstickStateOfMind · 27/03/2021 21:51

Bloody hell, just ordered some, yet another purchase thanks to Mumsnet 🙄😂

Juliesipadwillcallyouback · 27/03/2021 22:19

I had a session tonight - it's unbelievable the size of the rolls of skin that come off! Shock

I'm not a regular exfoliator I have to admit, which is probably why I get such a good yield when I do go for it!
