What do wear to a job interview?

I have a job interview next week for the position of classroom assistant. I haven't interviewed for a job in over a decade, and I'm unsure what to wear.

Any advice? I'm petite and pear-shaped if that makes any difference.

I'd go for straight legged or 7/8ths trousers that you can kneel on the floor comfortably in (in case theres any group work as part of the interview). Flats. Soft blouse tucked in / thin wool sweater if cold. Nice coat if cold enough. Hair off the face (practical for in a school).

A nice blouse and a dark skirt or trousers, formal shoes (they don't have to be high heels). Just something simple. Good luck!

If you are more of a dress person, a dress with opaque tights would also bee fine. But make sure it isn't too short or low cut. As a PP said, if there is apractical element to the interview, you want to be able to bend over, crouch down etc and focus on the children rather than being distracted by adjusting your clothing.
Clean shoes.
I have been interviewing prospective teachers this morning - simple, non fussy, clean and tidy clothing, probably slightly more formal than you would wear to the job itself, will enable you to shine through.
