Fat hourglass

I am an hourglass shape. I am big all over, but also fat! Especially so at the moment.

What the hell do I wear on my top half?!

If I wear tunic style things, I look as if I'm wearing a tent / am 8 months pregnant. If I wear anything fitted on my top half, yes, it shows off my waist, but also clings to my...erm...extra coverage.

I have decent legs, and I do a reasonable amount of exercise. I have big hips, a small(er) waist, boobs on the bigger side, but not massive.

Any ideas wise ones please?

Am in a similar position - back to working out of the home tomorrow and wondering how to accessorise my duvet cover as it's about the only thing that fits me.

The tunic tucked in? I have shied away from tucking things in for about 20 years but actually as long as it's not jeans or anything tight it looks good with a waist, especially if it's an 80s tucked and and pulled out a bit look.

Good luck @Superstardjs!

Same. I probably look best in fit and flare dresses or a knee length A line skirt with a fine knit jumper tucked in - v neck or pussy bow work or a high neck with a long necklace. I guess I look for shapes that come in at the waist but gently flare and skim over the belly and hips. I look terrible in trousers of any kind so I pretty much exclusively wear dresses and skirts. I absolutely love jersey midi dresses and wrap dresses if I can get ones that don’t gape over my bra.

Oh maybe @ThePlantsitter 🤔. You're right about the bottom needing to be loose though I think.

Oh that all sounds perfect @LegoPirateMonkey. Are you tall as well? Where do you tend to shop if you don't mind me asking please?

I'd love to know the answer to this. Fat hourglass also, I have given up and wear a lot of dresses with cardigans, skater style work for me as they go in under bust then skim out (providing fabric is thick enough, thin fabrics just cling to my stomach). Haven't solved the top problem- best I have found is fairly big shirts over straight leg jeans or tunic tops if they are fitted enough over the bust. If I didn't have a big stomach this would be so much easier as I can live with big boobs/hips while my waist is small!

I read on here that hourglasses do formal better than casual and I think it's true for me, it's hard to find a casual look that works. So watching with interest!

I’m 5’6 and shop from Boden a lot. Sometimes Collectif as well. Definitely agree that I can’t get casual to work so I’m always overdressed!

I've bought this in a few colours:

I don't think it's fashionable....but it might do a good job of skimming while also showing my waist! Going to wear with cropped jeans or a denim skirt this summer, assuming it isn't ghastly!
