Talk spring tops to me :)

I'm in need of some short sleeved tops/t-shirts for wearing with rolled up jeans/shorts in nicer weather. Am a busty size 14 and really struggle with finding things that fit my chest but don't just look huge everywhere else (am quite narrow of back and shoulder). Ideally cotton, but nicer than just a bog standard t-shirt. Any ideas?!

I usually buy 3 or 4 T-shirts to see me through the spring and summer with jeans. I usually end up getting them from Mint Velvet or Boden.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/03/2021 16:55

Thank you. A search on Boden hasn't inspired me. Will look at MV.

Some nice ones here, I've only got dresses from the but there good quality. I'm also busty but they seem to allow for that

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/03/2021 17:19

Goose - who/where?

I'm quite busty too and I like turn-up sleeves in t-shirts as they seem to balance me out a bit. Round necks generally don't suit me. Boat necks and mock necks do, they seem to stretch me horizontally rather than vertically unlike round necks/crew necks. I'm not sure if that makes sense but my chest looks like it starts from right under my chin when I wear round necks.

Cowl neck tops are good too - I like this one and thinking about getting it uk.saintandsofia.com/products/cowl-neck-tee-burnout

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/03/2021 20:03

Yes, I like a boat neck. That's nice, but a bit more 'wintery' looking than I'm after.

Ah I linked the black one - I'm thinking of getting the mandarin one which is a delicious orange!

Summerhillsquare · 22/03/2021 07:12

Have you tried Pepperberry?

Frequentflier · 22/03/2021 09:17

Marking as am looking too. I am not busty but my mum tum needs disguising, and so far all the tops I have seen are made of very thin, skimpy material.

Imtoooldforallthis · 22/03/2021 10:25

I am a busty 14 too, I have recommended these a few times and they come in loads of colours, very flattering.

I like Jigsaw for tops - they’re cut bigger on bust so can accommodate boobs well, and if you pick well they’re not too big elsewhere (although some are too voluminous).

I’ve just bought two tops in their sale at very reasonable prices; a third one had to go back because it was quite tent-like (shame as it was my favourite).

Ninkanink · 22/03/2021 10:31

Lots of tees and spring-appropriate tops in their sale.

goose1964 · 22/03/2021 10:40

Whoops forgot the link m.patra.com/Category/women-tops

Ninkanink · 22/03/2021 10:45

This is the one I had to send back

Boopear · 22/03/2021 10:48

I've ordered this from Boden. Am large of nork and looks great, in a "casual, but structured" sort of way: www.boden.co.uk/en-gb/joanna-wrap-top/sty-j0852

(there'll be code around somewhere as well. I got a random 10% off for some reason!)

SoundOfFalsetto · 22/03/2021 11:21

Normally I think Boden is all a bit middle-class school-run mum but I confess I always buy a couple of bits from there. I got a few biker jeans in the sale and they are really good quality and structured.

Frequentflier · 22/03/2021 12:18

@Iamtoooldforthis Would you say the Next tops have thick-ish fabric? Am not keen on that very thin cotton slub which turns out see through.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 22/03/2021 17:14

Thanks everyone. I'll look at the Next t-shirts when it reopens. Jigsaw hasn't got much that I like in my size, although I'll have another look. A lot of the others are viscose, and I really want at least some cotton in the mix. I'm not a fan of the Patra stuff, sorry, and Pepperberry only has a very limited selection.

Have just bought some of the Next t-shirts. Thicker than slub fabric, definitely not see through. Longer than I expected, in a good way. Lovely colours, cap sleeve. Very pleased, and only £7 each when buying two.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 22/03/2021 19:47

Next have a couple of things that look nice. Thanks - will look when the shops open, as I can be either a 12 or 14 in there, depending on the item.

I wonder what on earth was contentious on a thread about tops! Grin

OP posts:
Ninkanink · 23/03/2021 19:21

Probably spam of some kind. S&B does get quite a lot of that.

Hopeislost · 23/03/2021 20:42

@Areyouasking What is the sizing like on the Next tops please? I want to order some but am I between sizes at the moment!

happytobemrsg · 23/03/2021 21:16

Hands down the best T-shirt’s I own : www.veromoda.com/gb/en/vm/shop-by-category/tops/aware-t-shirt-10187159.html?cgid=vm-tops&dwvar_colorPattern=10187159_SpicedCoral

The material is super soft & they wash well. They don’t cling either. I have 4 in different colours. My mum is also a busty size 14 & loves these too. She’s a size Medium.
