Is a lash lift worth it?

In my nearly 30 years of wearing makeup I have never found a mascara that doesn't make me look like a panda. Oily skin and hooded lids seem fundamentally incompatible with mascara wearing despite all their claims to be smudge-proof.

I have had my lashes tinted in the past and the effect is nice but so subtle and short lived that I don't often bother. Will a lash lift make a big difference?

Yes it will make a difference. A friend of mine had this procedure and her lashes looked amazing, I thought she had false lashes on. Her eyes looked brighter, wider and the lashes were so long.

CovidCorvid · 21/03/2021 09:56

I had an Lvl lift once and have to say I didn’t notice much difference. Wasn’t worth the price at all.

I would say no. Very shorted lived for lots of money. What you need is a tubing mascara. No. 7 do one as do Blink, Clinique. They won't smudge and you take them off with warm water.

GransKitchen · 21/03/2021 10:03

I've had this. It looks good at first but it doesn't last very long, I'd say mine lasted about a week

nixso29 · 21/03/2021 10:04

If you have good lashes already then yes I think its worth it. I only reall get it done for going on holiday to save the hassle of mascara in the heat/water. I have long natural lashes so it works well on me.

I have clear bone lashes and brows and I really miss my lash lift and tint and brow tint. I was a bit sceptical but my daughter was doing beauty in college and asked me to be a Guinea pig. Well colour me surprised, it totally transformed my face! Brows proper framed my eyes/face and my husband could actually see my emotions and respond accordingly 😂. And the lash lift and tint made my eyes look massive. I found a woman that does them locally and she uses Niki Mole henna products and mine lasts at least 3-4 weeks. Costs me £42 a month which is more than I've ever spent on beauty stuff but they make me look groomed And put together and like I've made a bit of an effort. Especially as I do my own manicures too.

JackieWeaverFever · 21/03/2021 10:12

Yes - A good one will.

sabrinathemiddleagewitch · 21/03/2021 10:14

Yes I couldn't be without it and have similar hoody eyed issue.

My lashes are poker straight, almost point downwards but are quite long. It lasts 6-8 weeks for me and costs £40

BritPopBabe · 21/03/2021 11:42

Thanks for all the replies. My lashes are not very long so sounds like it won't have a significant effect. I currently have EL Double Wear tubing mascara which still makes me look like a panda. I might give the No7 a go as cheap enough not to be a big deal if it's a disaster.

Nyx doll eye mascara is meant to be a good tubing one, not tried it myself yet.

Redact · 21/03/2021 14:44

It makes a huge difference to me and lasts for ages. I have very long eyelashes and they were always getting into my eyes. Mascara never stayed on, and I've tried many, I too always ended up looking like a panda due to long lashes, oily skin and hooded eyes. Wow I could not believe the difference it made, my eyes felt a lot less tired and irritated and everyone commented on my lashes. I had lvl.

Oblomov21 · 21/03/2021 14:49

I too think it's pointless. Only lasts a short time. I have great eyelashes, and I thought it looked good for a day or 2, but I didn't think this does much long term.

vjg13 · 21/03/2021 17:01

Has any one tried a home lash lift? I dye my lashes but haven't tried a lift yet.

MapleMay11 · 21/03/2021 20:08

I love LVLs. Without regular use of lash serum, my lashes are medium length with no natural curl and I have the thinnest shield to get the best lift. I've tried the home kits and they work well too.

QuentinInQuarantino · 21/03/2021 20:15

I've got an at home one. It's fiddly but effective. It's called Diablo and it really does work. My issue is that I can't get the two sides to look exactly the same but I'm getting better every time.

vjg13 · 21/03/2021 20:36

How long does the home kit give an effect for?

JaceLancs · 21/03/2021 21:11

I don’t wear make up at all apart from sun block in summer and tinted moisturiser in winter
Eyelash dye and perm with brow wax make a huge difference to me

QuentinInQuarantino · 21/03/2021 21:13

@vjg13 about a month in my case. You have a choice of templates to use and I use the dramatic one and it looks like mascara after curling, then it slowly goes down over the course of the month. I try and do it every month.

vjg13 · 21/03/2021 21:35

Thanks, I'm tempted now. How much was the kit?

Girlintheframe · 22/03/2021 08:06

It's one of those procedures I get done as a treat.
I've very short lashes. They have to use the smallest rod for mine.
I loved the effect, definitely made my eyes look more awake and bigger but as pps have said it doesn't last long. Mine lasted about two weeks. It's the kind of thing I might get done before a holiday.

seensome · 22/03/2021 09:28

I've got quite thin fair lashes and absolutely love a salon lash lift, it's the only time I'd feel confident to go out without any eye makeup, I think it's worth it, the home kit didn't work on me.

roundturnandtwohalfhitches · 22/03/2021 09:32

I had a bad reaction and after that wore off I thought Ilooked v stupid with it. I do love a lash tint though. A good eyelash serum is a much better investment if your eyelashes are short. Worked on my stumpy lashes.

QuentinInQuarantino · 22/03/2021 10:24

@vjg13

Thanks, I'm tempted now. How much was the kit?
I can't remember exactly but around £20.
