Right, new jeans. Help me!

So I need to buy new jeans. I’ve recently lost weight so nothing I have fits.

I’m 46, I’m naturally grey. Want to look now but will wear clothes until they wear out. Took a while to embrace skinny jeans but now that’s all I have.

What do I wear now? Reading about baggy jeans but instinctively feel they would make me look ridiculous. Boot cut still feels outdated from last time round.

Suggestions please. What’s middle of the road How so I feel like I’m not 10 years behind but not looking silly?

Slim leg? Not baggy but only a small tweak away from the skinnies. Turned up if you were feeling adventurous... Grin

@PamDemic this is part of my issue. I’ve gone from an 18 to a 14. I’ve never been this body shape - my weight had been stable for 10 years and my body shape has changed with two kids.

I’m also not confident about clothes - just not a thing I’ve developed.

@FreshFaceTime I quite like the turn-up look. Can it work with boots?

@Mercedes519 I have no idea! I'm not fashionable and am still wearing skinnies! Try Pinterest/Google images for inspiration?

@FreshFaceTime I’ve been looking but it seems like a lot of style gets much more formal rather than casual. I’ve just watched 10 years younger and it was the same - structured clothes and blouses. I get why it works but I don’t want to feel overdressed while at the same time not looking out of date. Think I’m asking for a miracle Grin

I’m looking for similar. I have a couple of dresses that I feel confident in, but feel overdressed. So want some new jeans that I can dress up or down

I would suggest straight leg, dark cut, Higher waist, and turn up the hem to show off your ankles. Wear with runners - I still wear white Stan Smith but this year, New Balance, or Nike or Adidas suede, coloured 1980’s retro style runners are the style to wear. I’m going to buy a pair as my next purchase. I think they will give the classic straight leg jeans the ‘on trend’ lift you are looking for.

Congrats on the new you - enjoy shopping. You can get this style very easily in Gap, MandS and Zara. If you want to splash out, Seven for All Mankind are sooo comfy.

501s, turned up. Goes with any footwear IMO.

Mercedes519 · 21/03/2021 15:15

@Annasgirl thanks, I can embrace that. Already have the Adidas 😄

@SchoolShirt I’m also lurking on this thread which is giving me a few ideas but as many people are commenting it helps to know what you’re looking for.

P.s, don’t look at the boots

M&S high waist flare. Lots of support around the middle and the flare is wider than bootcut with a nod to 2021 wider leg trend. £29.50. Bargain!

My absolute fave are Rag and Bone

LollyLou348 · 21/03/2021 22:01

I've just posted this on another thread but try www.acaioutdoorwear.com they are a godsend!! You can wipe them down so whenever the kids are mucky or even the dog (!) I can brush the dirt off. They're waterproof too but don't look it if you know what I mean. They are life changing, I've got 6 pairs now and although they're a bit more expensive, they're worth it xx

Lineofconcepcion · 22/03/2021 01:02

I've just ordered some Ashley Jean's from Toast which I really like the look of.

Indecisivelurcher · 22/03/2021 07:03

Also debating jeans. I think I'm going to go slim fit straight leg, can turn up the bottoms with converse to be more cool, or turn them down again if I'm wearing clod hoppers walking the dog! So basically a direct replacement for the ones I've worn huge holes in!
