Ffern Spring 21 scent anyone?

nordica · 20/03/2021 17:56

Anyone else got the latest Ffern perfume? What do you think?

Mine just arrived today and it's so interesting. Actually starts out smelling awful and then turns into amazing after a while on my skin. Almost spicy now after a few hours. Love it!

It's my first month on the ledger, I was told dispatched yesterday Royal Mail 24h and it hasn't arrived

I like green peaty citrusy scents, so hopeful that I will like it when it turns up.

NoBetterthanSheShouldBe · 20/03/2021 19:07

I’m afraid it doesn’t turn into amazing on me. I’m not a fan of orangey perfume, I’m sending it back and sticking with Winter 21.

lookdeepintotheparka · 20/03/2021 19:18

I really love it! Can't stop sniffing my wrist Grin It just smells really nostalgic to me somehow and beautifully blended.

I'm so pleased to have found Ffern fragrances. I did like Winter 21 a lot although the strong blast of citrus felt a little too much some days. Spring 21 for me is perfect from the start and I'm going to really enjoy wearing it this season!

Midlifemission · 21/03/2021 16:01

Eagerly awaiting mine still ! Glad to hear you love it OP.
I really liked Autumn 20 but sent Winter back.
I will report back when it arrives

Midlifemission · 23/03/2021 10:50

Mine has arrived . Love it so far. I was sort of hoping I wouldn’t as would have bought one of my Jo Loves favourites instead but the first sniff before I even sprayed it was gorgeous so i think it’s a keeper.
I wish I understood fragrance better as this is my sort of scent but I can’t describe what it is that I like ! Will read the notes later and see if that helps.

nordica · 23/03/2021 13:23

I hope the rest of you have received yours now too!

The only downside of this one compared to Winter 21 is that it doesn't seem very long lasting on my skin at least. I sprayed some around 9am this morning and it's almost gone already.

Agree @nordica - it's really the most beautiful fragrance but I only have slight vapours an hour later and can barely detect it!

I'm not wearing it today as worried I'd become nose blind after a few days.
Tomorrow I'm going to try on the back of my wrists and clothes to see if I get better longevity.

Homsa · 25/03/2021 17:57

I'm not a fan - was really hoping to like it, but no. The initial fragrance is very much like a greenhouse, which I guess is the idea - but it's just too overpoweringly floral. Later it smells like toothpaste, then cotton buds. An improvement, but not something I want to smell all the time. I really like woody, smokey or citrusy scents - I wonder if their autumn/winter fragrances are more like that?

lookdeepintotheparka · 25/03/2021 20:02

That's interesting @Homsa as Spring is quite earthy and woody on me after an hour or so. Winter 21 was overwhelmingly citrus on my skin and I think Ffern often go for citrus/vetiver in the fragrance notes?

This is only my second Ffern perfume so I'm not really sure how they compare. At least you can return it if it's not a winner!

Homsa · 26/03/2021 10:44

@lookdeepintotheparka I guess I mean "conifer" when I say I like woody scents. It's my first Ffern perfume and I think I was expecting too much! I was hoping for something much less like a regular perfume and more like a natural scent. I do like that there is none of that residual chemical smell that you get with other perfumes though, so I'm willing to try some more. Spring 21 is going back though!

MissBattleaxe · 26/03/2021 11:23

I'm a bit confused about Ffern. If you liked, say, Summer 20, is it possible to still get it from them or do they just do one batch and end it there?

Midlifemission · 26/03/2021 12:41

@MissBattleaxe I believe you can buy further bottles of earlier fragrances from the archive if you discover a favourite as long as you are already a customer .

I am interested in this as I love Spring 21 so much I may need to stockpile it !

Magiccarpetfly · 26/03/2021 20:10

I received my Fern Spring 21 a few days ago and wasn’t sure when I first tested it, I thought it was too overpoweringly citrus and something I didn’t like. I was surprised as I usually love the uplifting scent of bergamot and am always trying to find the perfect bergamot in Earl grey tea.
However I have worn it 2 more times and it has really grown on me and find I can stop smelling it as there is something very moorish about it. I really like the different aspects of orange, the bergamot, petigrain, neroli, the orange blossom absolute, green mandarin zest, bitter orange as well as orange blossom water which dominates on me. I can’t really identify the woody notes, pink peppercorn, jasmine, ginger or basil which I was really looking forward to, but there is something there that is intriguing which keeps me going back to smell it again and again. I had high expectations as I was looking for a green floral citrus perfume that had a woody base without any musk which I can’t stand. I didn’t want the lowdown to be musk and was looking for a vertiver or sandalwood base which is soft and earthy with maybe some floral from the jasmine and orange blossom. I was happy as it does contain vertiver root but I can’t identify it as the earthy smokiness that I know. There is something unusual, but maybe it is because it is beautifully blended and that none of the other notes dominate. I find I am left with a rich citrusy scent with very subtle undertones of soft spiciness and hints of honeyed floral and something unusual. The more I smell it the more I love it! I also particularly love the lack of chemicals that so many of the synthetic perfumes have that are churned out now ☹️
I found that the longevity was ok but no perfume seems to last on me. Saying that, I would occasionally get a really lovely subtle reminder of this perfume that must of remained on my clothes. I will definitely keep it as it is too intriguing to return ❤️

TSBelliot · 26/03/2021 20:59

Like it a lot. Doesn’t last long enough but so nice I don’t care:)

Puppylucky · 26/03/2021 21:27

My nose obviously isn't on point as I am not getting any of the notes every one else is. I get a vague generic aftershave smell and then nothing - shame as what the rest of you are smelling sounds lovely!

MissBattleaxe · 27/03/2021 14:54

@Midlifemission thank you. I must say that their business model is quite unusual. There's a permanent feel of scarcity and a waiting list which I can't decide is annoying or total genius.

nordica · 27/03/2021 18:14

I do wonder how genuine the limited number of slots on the ledger is... it didn't take all that long for me to be invited to join after signing up for their waiting list. The scarcity model is definitely very effective.

This made me smile I feel exactly the same way about the business model but I do think the scarcity element works. I don't want to smell the same as everyone else and like the fact that people won't automatically know what fragrance I am wearing !

Midlifemission · 28/03/2021 14:26

@Magiccarpetfly I am in awe of your nose ! Even when I read the notes I can't really detect all the separate notes and ingredients.

Alsohuman · 28/03/2021 14:28

Don’t like it. One of the top notes makes me feel really queasy. It’s going back tomorrow.
