Lockdown has aged me

Looking back at pics of before lockdown last year and..wow I have aged. Feel like I've got way more wrinkles, dull looking skin, hairs a mess Sad probably because of the stress and can't be bothered making an effort any more.

Think I might get fillers in my cheeks when lockdown ends just to give my face a bit of a lift. I'm 37 and feel/look like I've aged 10 years in the last year

Me too, but I think it's a mental thing and because I haven't bothered with make up, skincare, wearing nice clothes etc...

GransKitchen · 19/03/2021 18:49

@NewAgeWiccan yes I've not used make up for weeks and wear the same scruffy clothes all the time

Me too, my hair decided to go grey the week that lockdown one hit! 🙈

Bluntness100 · 19/03/2021 18:55

I have been wandering round in loose clothes and generally looking like shite. I thought the same this morning, I was like god I look awful. Beyond awful

However I put a nice and easy dye through my hair, and have just put some normal more fitted clothes on, styled my hair, and put my make up on, as we have a zoom call with some friends tonight and I look fairly normal and back to my normal self.

Just make an effort tomorrow, it makes you feel a little better and more normal.

I posted on another thread this week about this. I really feel that lockdown has aged me, like everyone else says, I've had no make up on, hair badly needs coloured and cut, etc. So today I made a bit of an effort for meeting friends over Zoom, washed my hair with shampoo with a colour in it to disguise random gray hairs, blow dried and made an effort with styling hair, put on make up, not heavy make up, just foundation, blush, mascara and some tinted lip balm and what a difference. I felt like I looked like my old self again until tomorrow...

Me too! I look and feel like rubbish Sad I have no motivation to wear nice clothes as all I do is walk around the place where we live with the DC every day, I wear makeup only once or twice a week whereas before lockdown I wouldn’t have put the bins out without a full face on! My hair is awful, greying and lank with no shape to it (I’ve tried a box dye but the greys are too stubborn and it fades back to grey within a week or so!). I also have a 6 month old and am struggling to get motivated to lose the last half a stone of baby weight. I look old and tired, I hardly recognise myself when I look in the mirror! I’m actually slightly dreading everything opening up and being able to socialise as I feel such a mess!

Mellonsprite · 19/03/2021 20:54

Yes me too, my hair was a Bob that has grown out now. My eyebrows are sparse and thin, and I seem to have many more wrinkles, and my skin is blotchy, although it’s never been great.
Also I slob around in lose clothes because I’ve put a stone on since Dec.
I think for the first time I properly look my age or older.
I’ve already decided I’m going to get my teeth whitened and Botox in my 11’s when lock down lifts for the first time ever.

This is me too. Except I haven't just had a baby but I have eaten more and with no day to day running between school/work/lunchtime walks to shops with work colleagues, have put on 1.5 stone Confused

My hair seems to have gone grey overnight. Like I had the odd ones which I kept on top of, but now I think it would need dyed every 2 weeks and I dont know if I can be bothered with the faff. I really need a haircut too!

That said, I have a hair dye in the cupboard so might summon up the enthusiasm this morning and bung it in to give me a lift. I've started doing 5:2 again (4 weeks in) and I'm 1/2 stone lighter

I can't remember the last time I wore proper make up. I have kept up my daily skincare routine though (it's not extensive) and whilst I feel I have aged terribly, my skin is still well moisturized.

I need some sun to give me a boost. Not a holiday but a slight tan to take off the milk bottle tinge!

Clothes - bag, wearing the same baggy stuff that comfy. Also aware that extra weight means I can't quite pull off any of my slightly nicer stuff so need to stick at the diet.

I too am dreading the socializing again as don't feel ready to see folks in this state!

GransKitchen · 20/03/2021 10:57

Yes my eyebrows too need doing. Well today I've put a bit of make up on and put some jeans on instead of leggings and I do look a time bit better.

LBB2020 · 20/03/2021 13:03

I’ve booked a haircut and an eyebrow appointment so that’s something to look forward to!
I used to be out with friends and family all the time or at toddler groups with DC1, now I spend most of the time alone with the children while DH is at work so don’t see the point in making an effort Blush

LBB2020 · 20/03/2021 13:05

@kirkandpetal well done on your weight loss!

kirkandpetal · 20/03/2021 13:08
@kirkandpetal well done on your weight loss!
Awh thanks. It needed to be done! Biscuits are not my friend!!

grassisjeweled · 20/03/2021 13:09

Same here. Need botox

Sallycinnamum · 20/03/2021 13:18

God me too. I've developed awful eye bags in the last year. I feel every bit my 49 years!

LBB2020 · 20/03/2021 13:20

I started 16:8 the other week but was cramming in lots of chocolate and biscuits so kind of defeated the object of doing it and I actually put on 1lb rather than losing any weight Blush
I’m going to have a bit of a pamper night tonight and tomorrow night and start fresh with healthy eating on Monday. Also going to look in my wardrobe and sort out some nice but practical outfits so I’m not constantly wearing the same scruffy clothes which make me feel rubbish! I hate what this pandemic has done to me!

awesomekillick · 20/03/2021 13:34

I look older but I put that down to not having smiled or laughed much this year and a face that generally shows the mild stress and significant unhappiness of my life in lockdown.

RacheyCat · 20/03/2021 15:24

We haven't been in lockdown for over a year. I had six months of working online and then was back in the classroom. I've had access to salons and shops and whatever. The pandemic has still aged me massively too. It's the stress and the sadness, I think. I have horrible frown lines from, well, frowning so much. I'd hoped to not get botox until I was 40, but now at 36 I'm thinking I'm going to start.

AmberItsACertainty · 20/03/2021 22:28

The lack of sleep and constantly staring at a screen has done me no favours.
