Have I completely ruined my necklace?

I’m gutted. Years ago DH bought me a Tiffany’s necklace with a pick sapphire

Due to breastfeeding I didn’t wear it a lot but I’ve been wearing it a lot more now my girls are older. I tended to put it on and leave it on in the shower etc.

Today I noticed that the stone isn’t pink anymore! It’s a kind of cloudy blueish colour.

I think I might have been wearing it when I used glycolic acid on my chest but only once or twice. Could this have ruined it? If I get it cleaned would that help.

I would be inclined to say to you take photos and email to Tiffany, to ask for advice? What do you think?

I doubt Tiffany will help if it's years old.

Cleaning is obviously the first step - use a baby toothbrush and washing up liquid.

If it's been affected by chemicals then possibly you might have to start thinking of it as a blue sapphire Grin

An independent jeweller could replace the discoloured drone for a new pink sapphire relatively cheaply
