No maternity clothes look good!!!!

I am so frustrated. I am embracing my baby bump and slightly want to show it off. I must have ordered over 100 products and all 100 have gone back. It never looks as good as the models and makes me look like a ballon. It definitely hasn't helped with the crankiness but has helped my credit card!! All these celebrities that are pregnant look incredible and I look like Worzel Gummidge. Any advice other than and Seraphine and JoJo Maman Bebe? Otherwise it will be Mr Cranky's shirts as dresses for the rest of the pregnancy.😂

I mainly wore wrap tops from dorothy perkins and leggings from love leggings.

DrFoxtrot · 18/03/2021 17:01

No real advice I'm afraid Blush I thought I'd be glowing and wafting stylishly through pregnancy but unfortunately I looked and felt like an uncomfortable mess. I think a capsule work wardrobe would have helped me.

PlanetPuddle · 18/03/2021 17:02

H&M
Ebay

PlanetPuddle · 18/03/2021 17:02

Have you tried Next?

stairway · 18/03/2021 17:04

I wouldn’t bother with maternity clothes, now it’s getting warmer I suggest empire line maxi dresses in a stretchy fabric leggings and cardigan.

CrankyCankles · 18/03/2021 17:04

@PlanetPuddle I will try Next, next 😂 thank you.

I had some nice stuff from vertbedet.

Whereland · 18/03/2021 17:06

I found that the floaty non clingy tops just made me look like a whale- I preferred stretch kinda bump hugging tops. Mostly H&M and new look

CrankyCankles · 18/03/2021 17:06

@DrFoxtrot my glow came and went in a matter of days. I have been looking like a mess for months so decided for the next few months will make an effort. Let's see how long that lasts!

Don’t bother buying maternity unless you’re buying leggings.

Buy you’re size in something with room. I wear mostly my usual stuff to be honest, but I love a floaty boho dress. Crepe is a lovely material for pregnancy.

CrankyCankles · 18/03/2021 17:10

Thank you @stairway

@Whereland A whale is what I looked like and I could't rock the whale look. I am about to look at H&M RIGHT NOW!

@BloodyCreateUsername firstly love your user name!!!! Thank you. I am thinking of giving up on the maternity clothes search. I am would have loved to be wearing my usual stuff as I have some lovely things. Unfortunately, I was bloated very early on in pregnancy which made me very cranky and none of my clothes were comfortable. I will look boho dresses, thank you for advice.

I didn’t suit the “just buy one size up & floaty” as I also have/had huge boobs so just looked massively fat.

H&M was my main lifesaver & Mamalicious. Envie de Fraises also had some really nice stuff.

traintrain · 18/03/2021 17:19

I also didn’t get on with sizing up in normal clothes. H&M and New Look, some ASOS maternity. My personal favourite for basics was mothercare, you might get some on eBay?

miltonj · 18/03/2021 17:23

For me maternity clothes were important. Yes you can just buy a couple sizes bigger in normal clothes but they won't fit nicely and they'll be too big all over rather than just extra room for the bump!

The best I found was H&M. ASOS okay but hit and miss so I sent quite a bit back.

BananaCustard85 · 18/03/2021 17:28

Not sure if it'll be to your taste, but I have just ordered this, plus another dress from the sale

www.pieces.com/en-gb/pcmthilde-maternity-midi-dress-20013315_Black_869132.html

I'm hoping the two dresses can just become my 'weekend uniform' for the next 3 months, with cardigans and tights for now. Fingers crossed I can get away without buying much else. I have some maternity jeans and uniform tshirts/fleeces for work.

It's such a pain not being able to go to the shop and just try things on! I'm suspicious of the waistline on non-maternity dresses, the ones I have already look all wrong.

CrankyCankles · 18/03/2021 19:04

@MaverickDanger thank you for the tips. I have never heard of Mamalicious but just looked and it looks great. I think I am going to not be so cranky tonight while shopping hopefully no returns this time.

@BananaCustard85 oooo I love the dress and it is on sale even better!!! Yes yes yes maybe after all I will be able to have one or two good pictures that isn't in leggings and a jumper 😊😊

I wore a lot of Seraphine, Envie de fraise, Mamalicious, Isabella Oliver and Hatched clothes. I loved my maternity wardrobe! I’m not really a leggings and tunic kind of person so this let me dress much more like my usual style, but embrace my new shape. Good luck!

PerditaNitt · 18/03/2021 19:42

I mainly wore seraphine dresses for work and lived in H&M maternity jeans and fine knit loose fit jumpers the rest of the time. Good maternity jeans were the holy grail - they made me feel quite normal and even glamorous sometimes.

CoffeeandCakeEqualsLove · 18/03/2021 19:45

I bought a few of these when pregnant and basically lived in them + tights + flat ankle or over the knee boots

Newmum29 · 18/03/2021 19:55

I’m 37 weeks and have been able to get away with a small selection of my normal clothes (slip dresses are my saviour) plus a few buys from asos and new look maternity range. It’s a cliche but black is always the most slimming. Mid length tank dresses that hug the bump are also great, I’d just size up (was a 12 bought a 14). Does make a big difference if you’re tall though and it’s your first baby. Friends have had to default to partners shirts open over the bump with stretchy tank tops and maternity leggings.

MaverickDanger · 18/03/2021 20:00

Love Leggings do the best maternity leggings btw!

CrankyCankles · 18/03/2021 20:02

@WhatWouldPennyDo thank you for the advice. Luck is needed right now as every time I order something and try it on I feel deflated and look like a whale. I would like at least one none cranky picture of me 😂😂
