Photos in a locket

I've treated myself to a lovely locket necklace.
My question is, do people still put photos in lockets? I'm happy to wear it as a nice looking pendant but wondering if people will expect to see pics in there and I'll seem strange for not doing so.

I don’t think people will ask to see what’s inside. If you wanted people to see then you’d have it open.

WidowTwonky · 16/03/2021 15:57

Oh I didn’t realise you could get open lockets wonderbrush. Though that doesn’t really appeal to me.

My primary question should’ve been - does anyone actually put photos in lockets these days?

I did. I got a locket and put photos of my dad in each side and wore it on my wedding day as my dad passed away and i wanted him to be "with" me

idontlikealdi · 16/03/2021 16:31

It was all the rage when I was 14-18, back in the 90s. not dissing it op but it would have to be a lovely locket for me to do it again. I had a picture of my dog and my horse:)

WidowTwonky · 16/03/2021 17:23

Thanks both.
Don’t worry idontlokealdi I don’t mind you dissing them 😆 I’m not a follower of fashion, especially when it comes to jewellery which is very much fads.
This is a beautiful piece.

I’ll keep empty unless the urge takes me

Hi OP I've been after a beautiful locket for a while, would you mind sharing the link? If you don't want to and want to keep it for yourself I understand Grin

Oh I love lockets! They are timeless! I have always wanted to know how you get a photo to fit the locket?

I got mine from Astley Clark and you can upload photos and they fit it for you.

I have this one

Locket

DingoWings · 16/03/2021 22:43

Why would you NOT put something significant inside? That's the basic premise of a locket, a tiny space for something special. No one sees it but you. You might as well just have a circular pendant if you don't put anything inside.
The only thing is to remember to take it off before you shower!

runthatbymeagain · 16/03/2021 22:52

Lockets are becoming fashionable again. A lovely selection here www.lilyblanche.com/collections/lockets/ and they do the photos and engraving for you.

jenn88 · 16/03/2021 22:55

I have a locket from Astley Clark! It was a gift from DP and they engrave if you wish and upload your photo for you into the locket!
I have the mini locket and the photo is tiny!
I love it and the picture is personal to me!

NowWhatUsernameShallIHave · 16/03/2021 23:48

Its your locket

And you can choose to open it or not

None else’s choice

Pinksatin · 16/03/2021 23:58

I meant that some people like to wear their lockets open.

Watercoloursky · 17/03/2021 10:24

I was given a (simple, plain silver) locket for my 18th birthday and I still wear it every day - it has space for 4 photos in it, and I have my parents, my twin, and my fiance in it :-) People do tend to ask if there are photos in it - though not so much at the moment, as it's usually under my coat!

RAINSh0wers · 17/03/2021 17:34

@jenn88 do you know which Astley Clarke one you have? I have my eye on one from there but I want something small, yours sounds perfect!

Plump82 · 17/03/2021 18:26

@RAINSh0wers That link doesn't look right but it works.

Scarby9 · 17/03/2021 18:34

My parents gave me a locket 41 years ago.
I wear it, and have done always since then, two or three times a week.
No-one has ever asked what is inside.

MrMeSeeks · 17/03/2021 18:40

DingoWings · 17/03/2021 21:01

Are the Astley Clarke photos printed inside the actual locket? Or are they removable?

Plump82 · 17/03/2021 21:18

Theyre removable
