A signature scent

I love perfume and have lots however after a particularly tough few months I've decided I need a new start and I want a new perfume that will become my signature scent.
A new beginnings type of scent.
( I'm usually a gourmand or floral girl)
Any recommendations?

I tend to just get attached to a single perfume and feel like there's nothing else in the world as nice, until I suddenly smell something else and totally change my mind.

For years and years I wore Chance by Chanel and got gushing compliments even from people who you wouldn't expect to say anything about how one smelled. I thought that was my signature scent.

Now, I wear Loewe 01. I like it more than Chance and I wear it every day. I guess at some point I'll smell something else and change my mind. I would quite like to have a selection of perfumes, but I seem to just get stuck on one. Maybe this is all having a signature scent is?

Have you tried Annick Goutal? Petite Cherie is floral and gourmand in my view if you like delicate fruity smells

Zesting · 16/03/2021 16:03

I purposefully keep changing scents in order not to have a signature, because I have previous scents that now remind me of horrible times and I can't stand even a whiff of them.
I know just try to wear something different everyday, it feels fresh and new and gives me a little lift.

I’ve always loved Guerlain perfumes. The Aqua allegoria range is light and floral or fruity

justanotherneighinparadise · 16/03/2021 16:08

I have a Guerlain perfume that cake in a tiny bottle as part of a beauty box. My god it’s strong!! I do like it and I can totally see how it might becomes someone’s signature scent.

Forkorspoon · 16/03/2021 16:09

I love Miss Dior Blooming Bouqet for spring & summer

justawoman · 16/03/2021 16:10

I love Mitsouko and it’s my signature scent if anything is, but yes it’s strong! Aqua allegoria are eau de toilette (I think) and at the lighter end of their range

justanotherneighinparadise · 16/03/2021 16:17

I’ve just looked up which Guerlain perfume I received and it was this one.

A signature scent

Poeme, I wear it every day and have for years.
Most days someone will say how nice it is.
Not too strong, but it lasts all day.

Spied · 16/03/2021 16:53

@Zesting
Yes, all the perfumes I currently have remind me of things I'd rather forget.
I'm hoping a new scent will mark new beginnings and all of them positiveGrin.
I've never tried Annick Goutal DarlingCoffee- I'll take a look.
I've tried Guerlian Samsara- I'll take a look at the others.
Thanks for the suggestions.

Another vote for Mitsouko. It's all I've worn since the age of 18ish, and I never get bored of it. It's a woody chypre, so not your usual perhaps, but definitely worth trying.

anxiouscrazymum · 16/03/2021 18:44

Bulgari jasmine noir and Coco Chanel for nighttime.
Daytime - Chanel chance and Ellie Saab xx

HeraInTheHereAndNow · 16/03/2021 19:01

I have Mon Guerlain. It’s strong stuff. Very Guerlain. Reminds me of Samsara.

peanutbutterandbananas · 16/03/2021 19:08

Neom's perfumes are lovely and natural too

ThisIsTheGreatestShow · 16/03/2021 19:09

Narciso Rodriguez for her and its various permutations has served me very well as "my" scent for almost 20 years now. I occasionally wear Prada Amber or Chanel Coco Noir but don't deviate from the above too much.

thecatfromjapan · 16/03/2021 19:28

So, I think you'd like a signature scent that is unlikely to be worn by someone else.

There are so many perfumes out there, you should be able to do that!

Another poster recommended trying 'discovery sets' from the Perfume Society. I did, and I loved this set:

perfumesociety.org/product/sana-jardin-discovery-set/

I reckon you should get this and see if you can find a 'signature scent' amongst these.

There are a couple of unusual gourmands in the set. They're all beautiful.

They're also a niche brand - so it's unlikely your 'signature' will be shared by many other people.

Good luck - and happy hunting!

Dior addict is my signature scent
Although I love most Guerlain perfumes and they last very well on me
