Just been prescribed these for 3 months.

Can anyone tell me how long it took for an improvement to show in their skin ?

Taking one tablet a day.

Thanks

It took 3 months! Plus a change in skincare but I haven't taken them for nearly a year now and I'm still acne free.

ThisMustBeMyDream · 15/03/2021 16:28

Not long. 3 weeks if I remember correctly. They came back after the 3 month course, so now I'm on a second 3 month course.

I used to take that its very good, I can't remember how long it took but I know it really works, I was on it long term about 5 years, it was only when I saw a new doctor she said I shouldn't of been using it for that length of time, and took me straight off it, I said well the other doctor gave them out to me never said anything so I thought it was alright to stay on them, anyway that was over 10 years ago and I have not have any spots at all..

I'd say an improvement after about 1 months, but probably 3-6 months for my skin to get to it's "best". I had about 1yr/18mths before my skin got bad again. Because of covid I left it, but have recently started a course of it again after my skin became really terrible (1 months in). It is literally the only thing that had ever worked.

Long term I may try having a few months on and few months off to see if it keeps it under control? I don't particularly like the thought of long term antibiotics but my skin is awful (to be point people randomly comment on the redness Hmm)

Thank you everyone. I was expecting fast results so good to know I need to be more realistic and wait for a longer term result.

Thanks again for all your replies :)

My son takes these, we saw an initial improvement in the first few days and then again after a few weeks.

If it doesn’t work request a dermatology ref.

DD saw a massive improvement after 2-4 weeks and 3 months in an incredible improvement

happilybemused · 16/03/2021 11:01

Thank you to everyone taking the time to reply. Fingers crossed I have an improvement going forward. Thanks again

Yes fingers crossed.

I was really impressed with how quickly they worked. They seem to work well for acne. Different antibiotics are better for different areas of the anatomy so there's a good chance these should work for a lot of people.

DD was also prescribed Acnecide 5% to use alongside topically

katieloves · 16/03/2021 19:02

Dd saw a difference after a month and was spot free after 4 months when she stopped taking it. Still only the odd spot when she’s got her period. She also uses the acnecide range which is brilliant.

I took it on and off for over 20 years and have been off it for 18 months. My skin stayed ok initially but I'm now back to acne covered nose and chin so wondering if I should request to go back on it even though I'm in my 50's and this should all be behind me Confused
