Glossier... just for perfect-skinned teens??

BigBeachWales · 15/03/2021 12:35

I'm 52 with pretty good skin and I keep seeing ads for Glossier... looking at the website and YouTube vids I like the look of the products... all quite natural looking and subdued... no make-up make-up. Am I too old for Glossier? Is it just for teenagers as pictured in their ads?? Or can it be ok for older skin? The futuredew serum looks amazing!!!

Nope, definitely not too old! It's a great brand.

VerityWibbleWobble · 15/03/2021 12:38

I'm over 50 and I love Glossier.

The future dew IS amazing and so are the cloud paints.

Snezcomb · 15/03/2021 13:03

Definitely not too old! I think Glossier has quite a defined aesthetic (the ‘no make up’ look) but it would be suitable for any age. I have the foundation, concealer, several cloud paints and boy brow. I’m in my 30s and have fairly good skin - those products give me a bit of a boost and still look low key, which is what I’m after. If that’s what you’re interested in, I definitely think worth trying!

JeanClaudeVanDammit · 15/03/2021 13:07

Cloud paint and boy brow are excellent. The concealers etc seem far more suitable for people with very good skin so I haven’t bothered with them. Like everything, I think a pick and choose approach is best, I wouldn’t pick a full face of Glossier products.

Luckystar1 · 15/03/2021 13:09

I love it. The foundation is brilliant. It’s really light, but covers up slight imperfections beautifully. I’ve found it is perfect as I get older (also in 30s) as my skin just looks awful with heavier make up now.

pommedeterre · 15/03/2021 14:24

Cloud paint and the milk like eye make up remover are staples for me (and as I do Beauty Pie I have to REALLY want things from other brands as I feel like otherwise Im not making use of BP!).

doadeer · 15/03/2021 17:15

I've got future dew coming tomorrow - I'll report back!

BigBeachWales · 15/03/2021 17:16

This is great to hear! What about the eye shadows? The Lidstar and the Skywash all look fab and some of the colours are gorgeous. Lovely and sheer and subtle... the lip balms and matt lipsticks look lovely too!

I didn’t get on with cloud paint at all. Made me look like a clown. I love Benetint though.

WrinklesShminkles · 15/03/2021 18:11

I've got the concealer, cloud paints (puff and haze), generation g lipsticks (like, crush and jam), dotcom balms (rose, mint and berry), a skywash (pale taupe) and a lid star (lilac). I would repurchase all of them except the lidstar (a bit too pale / glittery). I'm over 50 and would recommend them to anyone who likes a sheer or no-makeup look. If you like full coverage then you probably won't like Glossier.

Which colour did you try? The peach one looks lush!

The taupe skywash and the berry lip balm look lovely. Is the jam generation g quite subtle if you just use one coat? I just want a sheer hint of colour... not a red lippy person at all but it just looks so sheer and lovely!

@BigBeachWales, the colour is haze and I actually really liked it, but I didn’t get on with the consistency at all. I looked like I had painted my cheeks using a crayon. Maybe I was using too much ?

WrinklesShminkles · 15/03/2021 20:05

BigBeachWales The Jam colour is very subtle with one coat. If you've ever tried Clinique Black Honey, it's similar but slightly cooler toned, and matte. The taupe skywash is extremely subtle as I wear it, other people would consider it more of an eyeshadow base but I like how it neutralises discolouration on my lids. Very easy to apply, just smoosh it in with your finger.

Sparkletastic · 15/03/2021 20:11

Didn't get on with the Lidstars at all but love the Skintint, Boy Brow, Cloudpaint and Stretch Concealer.

Sparkletastic · 15/03/2021 20:11

And I'm 49.

Volcanoexplorer · 15/03/2021 20:15

I really like their spf. It’s great as a city spf under makeup. You can’t even tell you’re wearing it.

Laquila · 15/03/2021 20:16

I just came on MN to ask about Skin Tint so thanks OP! I currently use Erborian BB cream and am looking for something a bit more pigmented but with a similarly subtle effect.

How does the Stretch concealer work on spots? I currently use Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage but my skin is so pale at the mo that I need to rethink the shade.

Juliesipadwillcallyouback · 15/03/2021 21:22

I have a couple of Cloud Paints and Future Dew and I absolutely love them. Future Dew is gorgeous under foundation!

Tempted by the stretch concealer.

BigBeachWales · 15/03/2021 22:21

I've just placed a mammoth order!!!! Will report back

I also like the fact they they are cruelty free

Tillytess · 16/03/2021 20:23

I have Future Dew, Stretch Concealer, Boy Brow, Cloud paint and Lash Slick Mascara and have found them all pretty unremarkable and have used better and cheaper alternatives. I used to think their products were more suitable for a younger age group until I saw the comments here. I like the no make up look but these products are just too subtle for me.

2020iscancelled · 16/03/2021 21:52

I love the eyeshadow wash thing - I am in bed and cba to go and check but they come in a tube and you sort of “dab” then on for a wash of colour. I have the brown, I love it. It gives me a sort of grunge 90s vibe but it’s not heavy or dramatic.
Hard to explain but I really like it and it’s so simple.

I also have the brow flick in brown. It is ever so slightly too dark but I think the blonde would be ineffective on my mousey tones - I LOVE brow flick, it is perfect for the laminated, soap brow look which is my thing. I love it more than the MAC Equivalent- which is very good too but the brow flick takes the prize.

I had a sample of future dew and loved it, I might buy it next time I order brow flick.

I also have the perfume which is beautiful- very fresh and “just stepped out of the shower” scent - it reminds me of the early Hugo Boss scents for women. Sporty, light flowery, citrus notes.
But it doesn’t wear that well, no real staying power.

All in all, yeah I really like what I’ve tried and would try more.

Oh just remembered I also have the lipstick, I have it in an earthy nude shade but it’s extremely orange toned when you apply. Love the formula but the shade isn’t right at the moment - perhaps with a tan!

kirkandpetal · 17/03/2021 06:41

I have tried a few glossier things and really rate the cloud paint (I have 5 of them now!!). I prefer creamy type blushers as find they last longer. You need start of with a tiny bit of this stuff but you can build it up and buff it out. Really subtle but effective.

I'm also trying boy brow for the first time and so far so good. Like the way it tidies the brows without making them rock hard. It's sort of grooms them and they feel soft.

I also got the red stained lip gloss but too sticky for me. My daughter benefitted from that and loves it! So a win for her.

If anyone fancies trying glossier for the first time, please use my referral code - I get credit and you get 10% off your order. Thanks if you do!
