earrings to leave in all/ most of the the time

I'm somewhat lazy and also have a very hands on practical job for which only stud or small hoop earrings are suitable. I'd like to wear earrings more but have a tendency to forget to put them in until the holes in my ears threaten to close! Can anyone recommend earrings which could be left in to sleep in? I find studs with backs uncomfortable to sleep in - I'm sure I'm being a bit obtuse but what would I buy to just leave in - it must be a "thing" as obviously you leave earrings in all the time when ears are newly pierced...

I use these:

Really like them - I got them to avoid the same issue as you and I was no longer going out and wearing any of my nice dangly earrings due to lockdown.

These are funky enough for me just now at home plus for any odd venture out too these days. Search for huggies and you should find lots to choose from.

I have some like these that I wear almost all of the time. They’re really comfortable and quite pretty too, in an understated sort of way.

I have screw back diamond studs that I only take off to clean every month or so.

Don't they get in the way of sleeping?
minchinfin · 14/03/2021 11:30

I've got really similar size and thickness ones to Cardigan except they're round not hexagonal and I think I've had them in for about 5 years!

minchinfin · 14/03/2021 11:33

in fact I've just ordered some for a change Thanks Cardigan!

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 14/03/2021 11:39

Thank you all!
*OwlBasket those are pretty but I think they'd get tangled into my hair if I slept in them! Blush Also a bit too dangly for work.

CardiganBlobby if those are comfortable to sleep in I think they might be the answer! Thank you (and minchinfin as seconder) for the recommendation and the name huggie hoop to search under!

JackieWeaverFever that's interesting - are screw backs more secure and more comfortable than the ordinary push on stud backs? Ive lost studs randomly so many times that I wouldn't want the worry of losing expensive ones.

Try searching for sleeper hoops as well.

I have some similar to Cardigan’s Etsy ones.

minchinfin · 14/03/2021 11:45

Me too - had no idea they were called Huggie hoops! These are mine and I wear them constantly, only ever take them out for occasional night outs. I don't notice them at all while asleep and I am a very light sleeper. glad I can search for some variations though as I generally like that style.

Ive bought lots off ebay that are flat back and you screw the front bit on. They can be a bit fiddly for my less than dainty fingers though, so I tend to buy a 5mm diamante stud for the front, so I can actually hold it and see what Im doing. Theyve been in for about 6 months and i clean with saline spray and cotton wool a few times a week.

hollyhope · 14/03/2021 12:10

Andralok earrings are comfortable to wear all the time, including for sleeping in: I've only seen them in Argos.

MoreCoffeePlease2 · 14/03/2021 12:21

Seconding screw in studs as well - the backs don't push painfully into your skull when you're sleeping and they're straightforward to put in and take out. I find huggies hoops very fiddly and generally need to rope someone in to help close them (I may just have clumsy fingers though, and no one else has this problem)

ProfessorInkling · 14/03/2021 12:45

Threaded backs/screw in studs here too. All mine are Maria Tash. Anything else is uncomfortable.

sluj · 14/03/2021 12:53

I like those Owlbasket. I had some like that years ago and they were really comfortable. Can you remember where you got yours from?

CardiganBlobby · 14/03/2021 13:15

Glad you like my suggestion - I like them for more of a twist on the regular round ones. I haven't had issues sleeping with them at all so hopefully you will find them the same!

Astrid and Miyu have loads of great small hoops and huggies. I've worn these continuously for the past year and still love them.

Soontobe60 · 14/03/2021 14:40

I wear small gold hoops that are like these. I keep them in all the time.

Thanks everyone! I ordered some small, plain, gold plated huggie hoops and they arrived today - very pleased. Thanks for all the suggestions!

I wear small 9 carat gold hoops 24 hours a day. I find that wearing plated jewellery in the shower ruins it.

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 18/03/2021 13:04

ah I didn't think of that Lamentations Sad

They might be ok, I had a necklace I loved ruined but that might have also been due to the contact with body lotion and perfume.

FeistySheep · 18/03/2021 13:46

If the hoops you've got don't last, then any sterling silver hoops will work. I've had mine in for three months now! I used to change earrings a lot, but what's the point in lockdown?!
