What's between a ballet pump and a boot?

I'm looking for some work shoes - specifically ones I can wear between seasons. When it's warm, I tend towards ballet pump styles and when it's cold, I wear boots. I'm a teacher and walk around a large school site/teach on my feet all day so comfort is important. No high heels but maybe a chunky heel if low. Preferably I'd like shoes that can be paired with skirts and tights as well as trousers. What should I go for? I've looked at loafers but can these be worn with skirts?

A brogue? A loafer?

Brogues or loafers

Most of the teachers at our school wear black Skechers.

Oxford shoes/brogues! Super comfy and work with every outfit! Or some stylish trainers!

But can I wear brogues with a skirt? 🤔 They do seem to fit the bill otherwise.

I think you want Oxfords or Brogues don't you? If you find a pair that suit you you can definitely wear them with a skirt.

Right, heartened to know loafers and brogues work with skirts! At my school most teachers wear them with trousers and those who wear dresses/skirts go for heels so I wasn't sure. Thanks everyone!

I used to wear flat laceups, either brogues or flat little ankle boots, with dresses, skirts, leggings and tunics. Fashion is secondary to foot health when you are on your feet all day. Although the kids used to tell me I wore cool shoes, but it wasn't deliberate!
You might need to try a lot on to work out your own style. Start with trying Clarks hamble, and Jones bootmaker usually have a good choice.

My dd wore brogues with her school uniform (skirt) between y5 and y11 and was far from the only one who chose brogues.

Loafers are having a moment currently, especially with a chunky sole. Either loafers or brogues/derbies can be worn with a skirt. Think it really depends on your style, suggest having a look on Pinterest for some skirt and loafer / skirt and brogue outfits you like and then choose the exact type of shoe based on that as within these categories the vibe can vary quite a bit.

Thanks all, some good suggestions! I'll have to get Pinterest and have a look.
