I have a very wide face and square jaw. Sadly suffer from at least a fivehead if not a forehead!

Currently have a pair of quite thick, very dark tortoiseshell, and I feel like they're too severe. I'd like lighter ones but I'm a bit unsure.

It might be worth going to an independent optician who has a good range of frames, they are used to looking at faces and knowing what will fit/suit. I’m my opinion the ‘rules’ about what suits which face shapes are (in my opinion with years of experience selling glasses) generally complete rubbish as there is a lot more to our features than the shape of our face (eg how close together your eyes are, how high your nose bridge is etc). Independent doesn’t always mean more expensive either.
