Just that really, I’m sick of skinny jeans. Have tried mom jeans in the past but they just look awful.
I’m a size 12, I’m 38 and I honestly think my body shape is the worst. Would love to know any recent successes.
TIA

Nothing. everything I see I think "lovely, but I would look awful in it". Am sticking to make up and jewellery etc but would love to see some clothes that I thought would look good!

KeyboardWorriers · 12/03/2021 21:34

Sorry, I realise that wasn't a very helpful reply Blush

Frequentflier · 12/03/2021 21:41

I am a similar shape/ size and have bought straight leg trousers/ jeans. Also gradually phasing out all tops that ended at my waist and buying ones that hit mid thigh.

happytoday73 · 12/03/2021 21:45

Nothing... Its all baggy, flouncy, highly patterned...
Because I was desperate I bought 4 long shirts/tops semi fitted for new job but they are not great

Sleepdeprived42long · 12/03/2021 21:48

I’m totally fed up of nothing fitting me round the waist :-( I’ve been living in leggings for years now. I measure a size 12 round the hips but a 16 round the waist. Just ordered some jeans from Next today as I’m desperate to get out of leggings this year!

tootiredtospeak · 12/03/2021 21:52

Skinny jeggings work best for me and I am 44 apple shaped 10st 5 and a size 12. Peplum tops and nothing too tight on top.

Rina66 · 12/03/2021 22:05

I’ve just bought a dress from Asda, it’s tiered, knee length and v neck with 3/4 sleeves - I’m wearing it now with tights and biker boots and I’ll wear it in summer with white trainers or flip flops...£16

This from Wallis with comfy skinny jeggings - covers tummy. Pretty colours and flattering shape - thought it would be nice with white jeans in summer too.

I’m also a really big fan of magic trousers, I don’t know how they hide my tummy and flatter but they just do, I’ve got so many pairs, plain, camo and faux leather

I’ve got a couple of Scamp & Dude sweatshirts I always wear with skinny jeans and trainers.

Cherrypie32 · 12/03/2021 23:23

I’m a shopping addict and 90% of what I buy goes back but find styles that suit you and then just replicate with different patterns or colours. Also the less fussy the better with our shape. Colour block or just wear a dress with great shoes/trainers. Don’t belt. Wear longer but fitted tops. Don’t hide in tents.

ConnieDobbs · 12/03/2021 23:29

Very little because I'm not going anywhere apart from the school run. I want / need some new jeans but can't be bothered to have to order online and return lots of pairs that don't fit. So instead I bought thermal leggings.

Sorry that isn't helpful, I'm mainly posting for ideas.

Shinyflecks · 13/03/2021 09:01

Ah thanks for the camaraderie! @Rina66 where are the magic trousers from?!
I love lots of the suggestions...
I usually hate next stuff - over priced - boring etc... but I did by a pair of power stretch skinny jeans recently and they’re a success. Comfortable and look ok...
I definitely recommend black dungarees to you all with a nice shirt and big sleeves...

@Cherrypie32 can I ask how you wear shorts? They always look awful on me, because my tops need to sit low and almost cover the whole shorts does that make sense?!

Buggered if I can find any jeans these days Angry

But I have rediscovered the joy of dresses.

Have bought these recently and they all suit my apple shape well.

Avoid anything belted.

Rina66 · 13/03/2021 09:27

@Shinyflecks thanks for the dungaree tip - I have been considering them as I find jumpsuits fairly flattering! The magic trousers are amazing, just try them, you’ll be amazed! manamou.co.uk/collections/trousers/products/super-stretch-camo-joggers-khaki

ConnieDobbs · 13/03/2021 10:13

I've also been considering some dungarees, where did you get yours @Shinyflecks?

I wear shorts in the summer, I have a denim pair two sizes too big. I don't think they are the most flattering thing though.

Shinyflecks · 13/03/2021 11:33

Sadly my best dungarees were from primark 3 years ago. It’s the only thing I’ve bought from them for ethical reasons. But they were brilliant! I agree with buy in bulk if you find a good staple! @Rina66 thank you - ordering now! 😄

Large long oversized shirt from Zara. Instead of pairing with an oversize vest/ jumper a la Instagram and put it with a tighter jumper to give me some shape. Have also bought some plaid leggings from Zara that are cute and a camel coat single breasted with decent not sloping shoulders in a small size. Can’t do it up but gives me a better shape for my small narrow shoulders.

Chrysanthemum5 · 13/03/2021 12:41

@Rina66 it's hard to see from the pictures but are magic trousers like joggers? Or more fitted? I'm a size 8 top and 10 bottom which sounds ok but it's all tummy and it makes trousers not that comfortable so I live in dresses. I get a lot of Amélie and Phoebe dresses in the Boden sales Grin

Carycy · 13/03/2021 12:43

Lottiedrynan the tummy diaries is good to follow on Instagram for inspiration for apple shapes. She has ibs but her stuff still works for just regular apple types like me.
If anyone knows any other instagrammers that are apple shaped would be good to know.

seven201 · 13/03/2021 12:49

I bought this skirt yesterday although it's not arrived yet. I have some a similar shape and they somehow work well on my Apple shape.
