@SmallPrawnEnergy

Omg those superga ones ... I almost died laughing that someone genuinely suggested those. Please don’t get them they’re fucking terrible, what people think trendy is but really is middle aged middles class tack!
Some people are middle aged. Nothing wrong with Superga at all, they look good with loads of looks, granted though, rose gold is a little Su Pollard goes cruising.
W3dontdoduvets · 12/03/2021 12:28

The ones linked to in the OP would look smashing with a ‘Dash’ tracksuit.

shouldistop · 12/03/2021 12:41

What's dash?

OP posts:
KirstenBlest · 12/03/2021 13:27

Dash was a shop around in the 1990s, possibly later but more as store concessions. The clothes had a certain identifiable style and probably appealed to older women.

WehIstMir · 12/03/2021 14:36

Gabor is a German brand. Well made, often very comfortable but certainly not stylish.

I have had a pair of the rose gold Supergas for years (never on a cruise though!) but hardly wear them. They are, unlike canvas Supergas, not very comfortable.

1980s. Lots of matching mauve tracksuits and jersey turtle necks, teamed with mint green collared t-shirts (with the collar turned up to show off the pearls, obviously).
KirstenBlest · 12/03/2021 19:00

Yes 1980s.

I didn't even click on the link. Gabor = frumpy.

Oooh, 'ark at you with your youthful vitality!
borntobequiet · 12/03/2021 22:05

My New Balance trainers are surprisingly very wide fitting and the trendiest thing I’ve bought recently.

borntobequiet · 12/03/2021 22:06

I know they’re trendy because my son has a pair.

Nannyamc · 13/03/2021 00:12

Rolling soft are a new range and are far from frumpy. Double zips give extra width. They are a g fit and can be expanded. Most comfortable shoe i have ever worn. I am diabetic and need to keep my feet in perfect condition. A lot of shoes recommended for me are hideous. These are trendy stylish and come in various colours. They have been a game changer, for me. I spend most of my day standing

Builtthiscityontoiletrolls · 13/03/2021 03:11

Just had a look at the rolling soft ones but I’m not sure I’ve got the right ones because they are worse than the ones OP asked about

Builtthiscityontoiletrolls · 13/03/2021 03:14

I mean, if you like them wear them and indeed everyone should wear what they want but they are frumpy.

BradleyCooperwillbemine · 13/03/2021 12:14

I quite like a lot of Gabor shoes - I think they are the most acceptable of the 'comfort' shoe ranges. Unfortunately, as I have got older, I just cannot wear any old shoe. I can't wear high heels (sob), they need to be wide for my toes, they need to be supportive and firm (i.e. not Sketchers). I never thought I would have these requirements, but having comfortable, non painful feet is way, way more important than whether other people think my footwear is frumpy.

KirstenBlest · 13/03/2021 13:08

Me too. Same goes for Hotter.
I want my feet to feel supported and comfortable, so no supergas or converse for me.

I don't actually have any Gabor or Hotter shoes at the moment, but I'd consider them if I needed new shoes.

W3dontdoduvets · 13/03/2021 18:33

Those Rolling Soft ones are desperately trying to be cool but fail miserably.

malificent7 · 14/03/2021 06:25

They look like they have given up....you can be comfy and stylish you know.

Changemaname1 · 14/03/2021 06:43

One way ticket to frumpsville .

But is that so bad ? Get them if u like them 🤷🏻‍♀️

HazelnutCookies · 14/03/2021 06:48

Gabor are really well made and so comfortable but I wouldn’t say this particular design is trendy... maybe another colour would be better?

NeverDropYourMoonCup · 14/03/2021 06:56

Oh, do tell - I'd love to know how for myself and my disabilities.
BradleyCooperwillbemine · 14/03/2021 11:00

Yes, I'd be interested to know too. So far, none of the suggestions on this thread, although well meaning, would be suitable. Until, you experience foot problems, you probably won't get it. It's nothing to do with 'giving up'. Its realising that foot comfort is more important than than hobbling around in uncomfortable footwear. One day, footwear companies will hopefully come up with more stylish designs, but in the meantime, we have to make the best of what is available.

KirstenBlest · 14/03/2021 19:46

@BradleyCooperwillbemine, I won't wear uncomfortable shoes.
If my feet hurt, all of me hurts. I tend to wear very comfortable shoes or trainers.

If you look at brands like Gabor, Hotter, Fitflops, Ecco, Skechers and the like, you will see some shoes that aren't frumpy, and some that are stylish, and some that are frumpy.
