What do you wear after a shower, if not getting dressed straight away ?

Sometimes at the weekend or after a bath I like to potter without having to get dressed. I hate dressing gowns as they just continuously flap open. For the past few years I’ve had these from John Lewis. Love them but they don’t sell them anymore and I can’t find anything similar that doesn’t look like it’s designed for a much older person.

Does anyone have anything similar ? Or what do you put on after a shower/bath to potter ?

I feel your pain. In the past I have had that stuff from Matalan, and Damart, but you may well think it's frumpy. I'm over 50, and it was borderline for me, but on balance I'd rather not have the flapping so I went for it :)

PersonaNonGarter · 10/03/2021 12:47

Isn’t this just loungewear? Or is the towelling element essential?

WalkingMeAway · 10/03/2021 13:14

@SpongeBobJudgeyPants thank you will take a look. Didn’t think of Matalan. Have seen similar in their beachwear section before.

@PersonaNonGarter I wouldn’t say the towelling element is essential. Just the style. So this currently hangs on the back of the bathroom door and once I’ve towel dried I chuck it on. Loungewear is more like getting dressed, if that makes sense 😂

@CoffeeandCakeEqualsLove yes! That would work thank you!

I’d either wear a towel or just put on some of the clothes I was intending to wear when I did get dressed! I don’t think I need any clothes with the express purpose of ‘not getting dressed yet’!

If you don't get it, you don't get it 🤷🏻‍♀️

@WalkingMeAway. I like the ones you've bought in the past, but the M& S one would drown me!🤣

MyDcAreMarvel · 10/03/2021 16:48

There are these new garments called nightdresses or pyjamas.

notacooldad · 10/03/2021 16:52

I usually put on a soft day dress that has been downgraded to pottering around the house. The sort that is comfy, too good to go out but has seen better days!
Other than that I wear a black soft jersey wide leg pj bottoms and a jersey t shirt. They don't look like pj's if anyone called around unexpectedly! ( not that they do, but just in case!)

ThePricklySheep · 10/03/2021 16:54

Wouldn’t just any jersey dress do? Or a towelling beach dress.

UhtredRagnarson · 10/03/2021 16:56

I always get dressed straight away. On the odd occasion I forget to bring my clothes to the bathroom I either put a towel round me or my dressing gown on to go upstairs and get my clothes. I don’t really understand putting on one set clothes because you don’t want to put on clothes Confused why not just wear comfy clothes and then you’re dressed?

AbstractHeart · 10/03/2021 17:27

Couldn't you just get a dressing gown in the next size up? Much more coverage and less worry about flapping?

TheDogsMother · 10/03/2021 17:29

I have something similar from M & S and it was from their beachwear section.

bellagogosdead · 10/03/2021 17:34

I have a hoodie type nightdress, a bit like the m&s one linked to, but not as long, it's great. I especially liked it for hotel visits.

WalkingMeAway · 10/03/2021 17:45

Haha I thought it might cause some confusion!

So by pottering I mean making beds, sorting washing a bit of cleaning etc. So I liked chucking that towelling zip up dress as it’s comfy, easy (no trying to squeeze damp legs in to leggings etc) and doesn’t flap open!

I’ve tried the bigger dressing gowns but they’re just too bulky.

Towelling beach dress would work, in fact I think that’s what the JL one was intended for. Just can’t find anything similar.

i like the look of this for Summer Post Shower Faffing .

At the moment I have a couple of zip up velour robes . No flashing the flesh .
I am ancient

CoffeeandCakeEqualsLove · 10/03/2021 17:56

Try "loungewear dresses" or "loungewear jumpsuit" there's a good amount of variety depending on your style/budget

I definitely get the idea of one item just to throw on while around the house.

allfurcoatnoknickers · 10/03/2021 18:16

You need the famous "nap dress": www.hillhousehome.com/collections/the-nap-dress-shop

gavisconismyfriend · 10/03/2021 18:29

I have one of these redoriginal.com/collections/luxury-towelling-change-robes/Women's-Towelling-Robe
Love it!

Oblomov21 · 10/03/2021 18:34

I can't find anything that suits either.

"Nap Dress"

I'd look like I'd escaped from the set of Little House on the Prairie in one of those Blush
