Talk to me about Teva sandals!

I'd like to find a comfortable and stylish pair of sandals for the summer.
I'll wear them with summer dresses, rolled up jeans and chinos. Need to be able run after a fast toddler!

I've spotted Teva sandals everywhere. They look super comfy but I fear they'll look dated on me? They seem to be in fashion, but is it only really younger people who wear them ironically that can carry them off?

What do people think of these sandals? How should they be worn?

Made me laugh last year when everyone was going on about them when they used to be the things that old ramblers wear when out on walks . Should be worn with old skinny legs, socks and too short nylon shorts 😂

AnnaFiveTowns · 09/03/2021 10:58

If you like them then get some. I have a pair that I bought when I did Camp America nearly 30 years ago. I use them for holidays and find them really useful. Ive noticed they've made a bit of a come back recently- my dd got some from Urban Outfiiters last summer. I like them. You're never too old to wear anything that you like.

These are my Tevas I got last year. I'm 47, I wear them with anything that the colours go with. They are so comfy and I think they look awesome.

@BehindMyEyes "used to be the things that old ramblers wear when out on walks"

You say this like it's a bad thing??

BringMeTea · 09/03/2021 11:09

I have black universals. I LOVE them. And they are so comfortable. I do not ramble. I am not averse to a bit of fugly though.

Brogues · 09/03/2021 12:39

I got two pairs last year and can’t wait to crack them out again this year. Incredibly comfortable. I’m probably too old (40s) for my flatforms but they aren’t as noticeable when worn.

I have Teva Tirras, I love them but most of my wardrobe is outdoor/gym gear and I go for the outdoorsy/sporty look over fashion 99% of the time. Anyway, they're great, really comfortable and well made.

GrimDamnFanjo · 10/03/2021 00:44

I have two pairs and being wide of hoof I love them!
Very very comfortable, one is a Tirra and the other a Flatform?

EBearhug · 10/03/2021 00:49

I have been round the world in mine and walked miles and miles in them. Probably had about 12 years wear out of each pair.

missmoon · 10/03/2021 07:50

I love them! I live in them in the summer. They are very comfortable, supportive, and some of the designs look quite stylish. I replaced my old Tirra black leather ones with a fabric pair last year, but think I will get another leather pair as they look slightly more dressy.

Procrastatron · 10/03/2021 09:01

I’ll offer an alternative view. I got some flatforms last year and I don’t love them on me. This isn’t Teva’s fault though as I think they look amazing on other people of any age and style. The reason I don’t love them is that I have fat sturdy feet and ankles and the strap just highlights that. Something to consider if you don’t have lovely feet like @thedevilinablackdress
IMO to make them look their best you have to create a juxtaposition with what you are wearing.

FlyingByTheSeatof · 10/03/2021 19:21

these

I have these flip flop style Teva's which I love and are super comfy

museumum · 10/03/2021 19:25

They are sooooo comfortable but I do think the fabric ones are quite ugly. I had a pair as a student backpacker but they weren’t pretty. I now have a brown leather pair but after around 7/8 years they’re in their last legs and I can’t find replacements.

Heyha · 10/03/2021 19:29

I love mine but they have attracted a bit of ribbing from friends on holidays. They're so comfy that I just laugh along, smug in the knowledge that my feet are happy!

museumum · 10/03/2021 19:46

The mahonia is the nearest current model to my old faves.

highlightsonlyplease · 13/03/2021 13:01

I have 2 pairs, black & white, they are very comfortable (I can't do normal sandals) but they are not flattering on my ankles, they make my legs look chunky (which they aren't really) so I'm going to try flip flops this year

windmill26 · 13/03/2021 16:20

Arizona Love has what I consider the more trendy version of a Teva sandal.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 13/03/2021 19:49

I love mine, so comfy. I’ve worn mine in the sea a lot. I live by the coast. They take a while to dry.

AnyFucker · 13/03/2021 19:57

They are the comfiest thing ever

I love mine.

AnyFucker · 13/03/2021 20:00

I just have the original Hurricane style

AnyFucker · 13/03/2021 20:00

like this

newlabelwriter · 13/03/2021 20:01

I got some lovely leather ones from Toast a couple of years ago and I love them, comfiest shoes I have ever owned too.
