Which parting suits me best?

Help me settle a decades old quandary. Do I look better with a centre or side parting? Apologies for weird lighting in the side parting pic.

I usually wear it a centre parting but occasionally toy with a side. But all this talk lately of side partings (along with a billion other things I thought until now were quite benign) being ageing I've been even more preoccupied with this obviously very important issue Grin

You look beautiful both ways, but I prefer the softer, side parting.

Difficultusername · 09/03/2021 08:24

I've been having this dilemma too (obviously I am more influenced by current media discussions than I like to admit!)

I like side on you better, although both look good.

ImportantIssueObviously · 09/03/2021 08:31

Thank you!

It's strange but when I look in the mirror, I prefer centre. But when I see photos of myself, I think side looks better. Hence the indecision.

I think I probably have too much time on my hands what with lockdown and all!

Side I think.

This totally!

Your hair is lovely by the way!

ImportantIssueObviously · 09/03/2021 08:40

@Orchidflower1 thank you, that actually made my day. My poor hair is menopausal-thinning and I cut it myself because the last time I went to a hairdresser 15 years ago they made such a mess of it I've never gone back to one. It could probably do with some TLC!

Honestly your hair looks full and has a lovely shape to it.

Mine is poker straight - I get that from my Dad’s side of the family, it’s a genetics thing!

stayathomenightmare · 09/03/2021 08:50

The side one is lovely. You have amazing hair.

Apileofballyhoo · 09/03/2021 09:02

Menopausal thinning? You look like you're in your 30s. Side, btw.

Spied · 09/03/2021 09:04

Side looks best imo

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 09/03/2021 09:04

Side looks better

Plump82 · 09/03/2021 09:06

Both look fab but i actually prefer the middle parting. I think if you gave the roots a little more volume for the middle parting it would look even better. Just a shake with your fingers.

Bagelsandbrie · 09/03/2021 09:09

Side.

I hate this thing about middle partings being younger and trendier. They don’t suit everyone. I look like a 70s hippie with one. It instantly makes me look ancient.

ChoccyJules · 09/03/2021 09:11

I like the side on you better. However both are a good look on you.

I am the same, been wondering since the chat about partings last week, tried to go centre but have gone back to side. I have to accept that as usual I am not on trend Wink

ClaryFairchild · 09/03/2021 09:14

Side, definitely. You could even go more to the side and angle the parting so that as you go toward the back it veers toward the centre a little.

ImportantIssueObviously · 09/03/2021 09:19

I'm an old goth at heart and love the Morticia/Vampire's Wife centre parting look, which is why I've stuck with it for years. Came as quite a shock to know I was fashionable! Being trendy has never been a priority for me, in fact I've always liked being a bit 'different'. I'm not sure a centre parting makes anyone look younger really - just at the moment, perhaps it makes you look more fashionable, which in turn may be perceived (by some) as more youthful.

Side.

I’ve been taking hair vitamins from Holland & Barrett called “StarPower”. They’re gummies and taste LUSH. Plus my hair had never been thicker. Even my eyelashes are getting longer. And I have so much more energy now, it’s unreal.

Love, a fellow menopausal ex-Goth

Gatekeeper · 09/03/2021 09:25

Side definitely and may I say what a fine looking woman you are

ImportantIssueObviously · 09/03/2021 09:30

@MacbookHoHoHo eyelashes getting longer you say? Off to Google. My eyelashes look like anorexic spider legs, they're pathetic.

I say side parting too Smile

@Gatekeeper you're someone else I think I love! Thank you Smile

You really do look amazing. All that Gothy sunshine-avoidance and thick white make-up (if you were anything like me) has left your skin frozen in time!

LadyEloise · 09/03/2021 09:42

You're 49 !
Faints.

You look amazing - not a wrinkle or a crinkle.
Have you had Botox or anything done ?
I think a fringe would suit you.

ImportantIssueObviously · 09/03/2021 09:48

@LadyEloise no Botox or anything, just lots of sun avoidance/sunscreen as @MacbookHoHoHo suggested! I've had a fringe in the past but it's hard work as my hair is quite thin at the front and has an annoying wave there too. Looked quite nice when I'd spent ages on it but the second any humidity/rain hit it it looked awful. I've always been a bit conscious of my massive forehead and I liked how it concealed it. But ultimately I'm just too lazy for the commitment required!
