Looking for a cleanser / moisturiser for 8 year old son

My 8 year old boy has very sensitive and dry skin but has started to get blackheads on his nose. Does anyone have any recommendations for a cleanser and moisturiser? We’ve tried Simple and it’s just dried his skin out even more.

Have a look at Sam Farmer range

Lamentations · 08/03/2021 20:36

Cerave definitely.

I like Spots & Stripes for my 10 year old son, because they are natural / clean products. I've only used Organic Baby on his skin up until now, but he was outgrowing this & didn't want to take it on sleep-overs! Spots & Stripes smell lovely & his skin is lovely & soft - not cheap but suits his skin well.

CeraVe SA smoothing cleanser.
My household of 3 teen boys have all started using it and it seems to be working.

ScopeToCreate · 08/03/2021 21:22

CeraVe, available in Boots or anywhere online really. Very gentle on the skin.

Todayissunny · 08/03/2021 21:22

@Lamentations which ceraVe one do you recommend? My teens are using SA smoothing cleanser which I have started to use too . I think there is one specifically for acne which I can't get where I live but if its really good I'll get someone to send it to me.

Cetaphil!

The Cerave in the green bottle, not sure what it's called. Also don't forget to use a good old fashioned flannel to exfoliate.

FlyingByTheSeatof · 09/03/2021 16:03

Cerave SA to be used daily with a clean flannel / face cloth gently rubbed over face as an exfoliator to help remove the days or evenings debris, sweat and grime

Thank you so much for all your suggestions everyone. I’ve ordered some Cervave and will see how we get on.

CeraVe is great, and Sam Farmer stuff is lovely too. Or Dermalogica, I think the range is called Clear Start.

Eeek...so we tried the green Cerave and he went ruby red almost straight away and it was really burning his skin. He’s actually got a sore patch on his chin this morning.

Has anyone experienced this with it?

My DD uses Estee Lauder perfectly clean and day wear. It can be expensive but has never broken out my DD and she has minor acne and redness.

MarthaJonesPhone · 12/03/2021 13:36

I tried Cerave and cetaphil on my DS8 who is having the same problems. Both way too harsh for a really young skin.

I finally settled on Avene Extremely gentle cleanser. I can really recommend it, definitely works and incredibly gentle. Got it on Amazon.

HowYouBrewin · 12/03/2021 13:47

Watching with interest as my dd who’ll be 12 in the summer recently started her periods and a couple of days later got a few spots on her chin. Tried her with Simple facial wash and it’s burned her skin it seems. What moisturiser does your ds use with the Avene Extremely gentle cleanser please?

MarthaJonesPhone · 12/03/2021 14:18

I just use the Avene. I use a cotton pad to wipe all over his face then another pad to wipe off. I haven't needed to use anything else. It has the consistency of a very watery conditioner so it doesn't need a moisturizer.

TheRealCherHorowitz · 12/03/2021 14:28

Dandydill Way is very gentle skincare and for children rather than teens Smile

HowYouBrewin · 12/03/2021 14:48

Thanks MarthaJones, sounds good

Builtthiscityontoiletrolls · 13/03/2021 03:26

I just seen the recommendation for EL Perfectly Clean. I find that way too harsh it really strips my skin. Maybe ok for oily skin. Cetaphil is a good shout.

HappyAsASandboy · 13/03/2021 08:14

My daughter uses Farmologie, which is the new range from Child's Farm.

She uses micellar water with washable face pads or a flannel to cleanse and exfoliate, and then the pink Farmologie to moisturise. There's a blue tube too, if pink doesn't appeal, though it might be a different scent. The pink one is grapefruit scent and smells delicious!
