Eye shadow palettes

I don’t know if it’s just me with this obsession but I love eye shadow palettes and I collect a lot of them.

Anyone else the same? What are your faves? Mine is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Renaissance palette. My most used is the Naked 3 though. I just love them!

I used to be. Everyone I know who "collects" make up has sort of grown out of the phase, even if it takes a few years, just because there comes a point when you know you have more than you can use!!

I like the Naked palettes, the too faced chocolate bar palette, tarte toasted, a few bars ones (I'd have to check the names).

I got a couple from Charlotte tilbury in the Black Friday sales but haven't tried them yet.

I like blush palettes too particularly Nars and benefit.

Oh and the hourglass ambient lighting palettes.

ZaraW · 08/03/2021 08:54

Not a fan of palettes. There's usually only 2 o3 I would use so it's a waste for me. Prefer to buy singles.

Fispi · 08/03/2021 09:31

I window shop alot but only own the origional naked pallet which I barely use now and an Estee Lauder one that I use about once a year. I only keep them because it seems a waste to bin them when theres alot of product left and I like to use things up. I've recently discovered cream shadow sticks and have to restrain myself from developing a habit there!

MuddleMoo · 08/03/2021 09:34

Natasha Denona, every time she has a mini pallette out I have to put it in my basket and leave it there for a month to see if I still want it.

PollyPocket245 · 08/03/2021 10:28

@ElderMillennial oh I agree! Although I do use them all Blush with lockdown I miss using them as much.

I need to try the hourglass one, it’s so popular but I’ve never been sure. Looks gorgeous though!

@MuddleMoo I’ve never heard of her! Will have a look

Natasha denona
ABH sultry
Elf bite size
Makeup geek

I have about 50 or so

ElderMillennial · 08/03/2021 12:28

Sometimes the holiday hourglass ones are on good deals after Christmas. I'm sure some of them were on offer not long ago.

PollyPocket245 · 08/03/2021 22:18

@QueenPaw I’ve just looked up make up geek, they look amazing. Where do you buy them from? I’m in the U.K. and can only find U.S stockists

@ElderMillennial thank you, I’ll keep my eyes peeled Smile

OP posts:
Cocopogo · 08/03/2021 22:19

No I don’t buy them at all. I just have one brown shade I use if I’m going out out otherwise I don’t wear eye shadow

willibald · 08/03/2021 22:27

My favourites are Urban Decay Party Favour and Make Up Geek one for dark eyes.

QueenPaw · 08/03/2021 22:50

@PollyPocket245 they don't have a U.K. stockist at the minute Sad used to be on beauty bay. I order directly at the minute

PollyPocket245 · 09/03/2021 14:59

@willibald I can’t keep up with urban decay anymore! They have a new palette every week. I think I saw a Wild West one last or something 🤪.

@QueenPaw what a shame, I might get some, I’ve read they are the best dupe for Mac so worth the shipping to try

I really like my too faced ones, peach, choc bar, gingerbread
Sigma cor de rosa is lovely and i have the natasha denona broze but not used yet, bit annoyed i didnt realise it was so many shimmers
Color pop peach is good for summer
CT pillow talk quad, so underwhelming
Huda small ones the red and orange ones
A few revolution and primark which are surprisingly good

I do not need anymore for the rest of my life and need to repeat that to myself when i want to buy one!

ElderMillennial · 09/03/2021 18:20

There is a too faced one that has been out for a bit that looks nice. I haven't bought it as I have loads including two Charlotte tilbury I haven't even tried yet but if I was to buy one it would be the Born This Way Natural Palette.

I'm tempted by the Nars ones especially in the sale.

PollyPocket245 · 10/03/2021 08:58

@Bananaman123 I love the too faces ones too, I haven’t bought one for years though. They used to smell amazing! What is the quality like on the Huda ones? I really wanted one a while ago but got put off by bad reviews. I’ve tried one of her lipsticks and lip liners but haven’t ventured any further.

@ElderMillennial the Nars ones look amazing. I have a CT one I don’t use as much as I thought I would Sad whenever I look at it I think it’s excessively glittery and put it away again Grin

The two CT ones I got were basically free when it was Black Friday. One is the copper one and the other one is the icon palette which actually seems quite wearable but I haven't really been wearing eyeshadow during lockdown so I can't justify buying any. I will usually out on some concealer, mascara and brown powder for when I'm on a zoom call or out and likely to see people.

QueenPaw · 10/03/2021 13:01

I also have these which for the price are great

SylHellais · 10/03/2021 13:09

I’m not a fan of palettes at all. 9 times out of 10 for me they’re a waste of money because you only use a couple of the colours. The exception was a Chanel one I bought which by some miracle contained four colours I used regularly.

EatTheMince · 10/03/2021 14:15

I stopped buying when I realise I have 18 and will never be able to get through them all.

My fave at the moment is a tarte one I think winterberry or wonder berry or something like that.

Haven't done my make up in ages though!

I'm not fond of the naked ones I just didn't find the colour pay off very good. The exception is naked Cherry.

Bananaman123 · 10/03/2021 17:23

I watched a youtube vid about the Too Faced saying the ones in a tin are better quality than the gift sets. I have one of the christmas gifts from a few years ago and agree the quality isnt as good.

The Huda i got from GWPs, they are ok but i wouldnt buy anymore.

Ive also found the ones from Foccalure brilliant, really nice eyeshadows and last well without primer.

Eaumyword · 10/03/2021 17:57

I've just bought a Smashbox one! It's the Punked one so I hope it's nice.

PollyPocket245 · 10/03/2021 20:47

@ElderMillennial I always seem to miss the bargains! I remember the icons palette, I wanted it so badly but I think at the time couldn’t justify it. I know what you mean, I think that’s why I started this thread Grin in the beginning of lockdown last year it was great to have a break from make up, 12 months in I sort of miss it

@QueenPaw what a gem! The bronzers look amazing! All these brands and websites I knew nothing about

OP posts:
PollyPocket245 · 10/03/2021 20:54

@SylHellais oh yes, there are a few a regret for sure. I was the same years ago with a Doir quad. I used it to death! The quality was amazing, I imagine Chanel is the same. I’ve always wanted to buy something but feel a bit intimidated by the counter Blush

@EatTheMince I love Tarte! What an underrated brand they are. I’d love to know how you wear the cherry palette, I can’t get on with it at all Confused

OP posts:
EatTheMince · 10/03/2021 21:01

I love the bright pinky shade as a transition shade and tend to mix it with another palette. The purplish end suits my skin tone really well, I am olive skinned and brown eyes.

PollyPocket245 · 10/03/2021 21:04

@Bananaman123 That’s good to know about the tins. It’s funny you say that because I got a gift set years ago and for a while was convinced it was a fake because the quality was so bad!
I’ll give Huda a miss again I think, such a shame, I love her and this her advertising is amazing. I just don’t think the products live up to the price point

@Eaumyword just googled it, so pretty! I love the grey tones
