Altering the rise of jeans?

I've finally found the perfect non-stretch non-skinny jeans from Monki (the Yoko style, if anyone else is looking). But the rise is impossibly high. I feel like they're sitting up under my armpits!

Is it possible to get the rise altered at a tailor? I think I want someone to take the waistband off, cut off an inch or so, and sew the waistband back on. It'll need a new zip too, I guess.

I've never had any clothes altered before except to take hems up, so I don't know if this is even possible. Would a tailor do it?

(Or, failing that, does anyone know where to buy mid-rise non-stretch non-skinny jeans? My legs are such an odd shape that most fashionable styles of jeans look awful!)

Do they have pockets ?

I’ve just had a look at what jeans I think you mean and I would say that it would change the whole shape of them if you wanted alter the rise and would muck up the pockets.

I don’t think so, not economically anyway.

What a shame - that sounds like a fairly firm no, and thank you for enlightening me! I don't understand how they look so normal on the models. On me they're definitely "ribcage" jeans.

(I thought I'd found my holy grail of jeans, but I've just looked in the mirror again and the rise really does look daft on me. Anyone else with a short torso have this difficulty?)

Different body builds, some people are short waisted some long torso.

Not sure you could on these, because of where the seams are.
And yes I have this problem I bought some lovely trousers that seem to fit ok but, when I am sitting down the waist digs in my ribs.

well you could get it done...i used to make a lot of clothes...but it takes a lot of time so will be costly....up to you....
