Or scent recommendation. I keep smelling amazing people who wear a sort of woody, almost verbally type of perfume. Hard to describe but is the sort of smell you might get in an Aesop shop or something . Is Le Labo like that? It's So expensive though! does anyone know they type of smell from this very basic description or anything that might be similar?

The liz earle or clinique fragrances will for your bill I think

Just seen I typed verbally! Hopefully you read that as herbally!

I will check those out, thanks @Bee0808

If you are smelling it everywhere I would assume it is designer and not niche. Gucci memoirs dune is a very aromatic unisex perfume out at the moment which is reduced in lots of shops.

Top notes - Roman chamomille & bitter almond
Heart notes - Coral jasmine, jasmine petals & musks
Base notes - Vanilla, cedarwood & sandalwood

Yes, I guessed herbally :)
Clinical aromatics is very herbal and very popular
I adore woody scents and my favourites are mmm replica by the fireplace and feu du bois by diptique. They are quite smoky though as the names imply :)

Bee0808 · 04/03/2021 18:20

clinique
Good grief!

StepOutOfLine · 04/03/2021 18:21

Liz Earle 1 is green and herbal
Clinique Wrappings (but hard to get) Aromatics Elixir is strong and h
Herby.
The Le Labo fragrances are all different, so you'd have to check.
A very herbal (too much for me tbh) scent is 4160 Tuesdays Outdoors/walk in the woods. Bit too poo-earthy tbh Grin
Diptique Mint

Check it out on www.fragrantica.com for notes and similar perfumes

Bee0808 · 04/03/2021 18:22

Oh! Yes...4160 tuesdays a walk in the forest...its divine!

SummaLuvin · 04/03/2021 18:26

Gucci Bloom Acqua di Fiori is very 'green'

RoxieMalone · 04/03/2021 19:41

You might be smelling the aromachemical iso e super, which is used in lots of modern fragrances.

It's used by itself in Escentric Molecule, and smells like a woody aura (I'm not good at describing, but I can often pick out this note).

I'm going to have to dig my sample out now. Grin it was all a bit mucky boots when I first sniffed it!Grin
Bee0808 · 04/03/2021 20:10

I adore it...
And indoors too.
Its very mossy

MissBattleaxe · 04/03/2021 20:23

If you like woody and herbally you could try 4160 Tuesdays Ealing Green or Liz Earle Botanical Essence No 9. You might also like Hermes Terre D'Hermes. It's a beautiful vetiver, which is a good mix of woody and herbally! I agree with @StepOutOfLine about Le Labo - they all smell different and are very £££.

You could try some Discovery Boxes before buying a full bottle. I always recommend The Perfume Society as they've got the clout to gather all the good samples in one box. perfumesociety.org/shop/

StepOutOfLine · 04/03/2021 20:59

I am looking forward to getting my Ealing Green out when I change my perfume wardrobe @MissBattleaxeGrin

Not quite herbally but this is amazing. I get a lot of compliments when I wear it!

ilkleymoorbartat · 04/03/2021 21:08

Thank you so much all you perfume connoisseurs! Amazing recommendations, I am very much a novice.

Can you get samples online anywhere or are the discovery boxes the best place to go?

OP posts:
MissBattleaxe · 04/03/2021 21:20

The Perfume Society Discovery boxes are legit and have samples that would be hard to get on your own, so I would recommend them. I've also had samples from Notino and Fragrance Samples UK. Lots more brands are doing Discovery sets since lockdown so there's lots of choice.

Bee0808 · 05/03/2021 07:25

For samples I use 4160 Tuesdays
Bloom perfumery
Les senteurs
You can also buy decants on e Bay
The perfume society boxes can be brilliant and are generally themed but do check out what's in it before you order.

MissBattleaxe · 05/03/2021 13:29

Yes, 4160 Tuesdays do great themed packs of samples. @ilkleymoorbartat, you might like one called Off To The Woods www.4160tuesdays.com/4160tuesdaysscentshop/prod_2022921-Taster-Sets.html

I also recommend Gallivant and Le Jardin Retrouve, both of whom refund the price via a gift code.

ilkleymoorbartat · 05/03/2021 16:55

Amazing I'm buying that off to the woods tester.

What is Santal 33 like?

lookdeepintotheparka · 05/03/2021 17:44

'Winter 21' from Ffern is the most incredible woody fragrance I've ever owned. Wearing it is walking through a forest - like you can smell the oak moss and earth Smile

Bee0808 · 05/03/2021 17:56

Sounds amazing!
