Looking for a new cleanser

So I’ve been using Skin + Me tret for a bit now and it’s going really well, good results. Got he tip and a code from this board so big thank you!

I switched cleanser at the start from a gel wash by Garden of Wisdom (too drying) to a creamier one by Antipodes (essential old a bit irritating) but it’s still not quite right.

I’m looking for something fragrance free, cruelty free and a lotion or a cream, rather than a gel/wash or balm/oil. Any recommendations?

I use the Body Shop Camomile cleanser. It's great

Mishmased · 04/03/2021 03:38

I use products from Nourish London.

I have used Lush Ultrabland for years now, and also The Inky List Oat Cleansing Balm for the past 6-12 months.

Have recently purchased Avene Foaming Cleanser, as I wanted something quicker than having to use a cloth each time. I usually avoid anything foaming, but half a pump of this on my face is really good!

A lot of cleansers that are usually highly rated, I don't get on with (either too fragranced or strip my skin too much) such as: Body Shop Chamomile, Clinique Take the Day Off, Ren, Emma Hardie etc... So I stick to my favourites now!

You could try the Green People scent free cleanser, that's lovely and meets your cruelty free and unscented criteria.

The Ordinary squalene cleanser is very effective and not drying at all.

I use liz Earle and Dermalogica though the Dermalogica one is a gel but very good, no smell and gentle.

Cerave Hydrating Cleanser.

What did Skin + Me suggest for you?

Volcanoexplorer · 04/03/2021 14:41

I know you said you wanted a milky cleanser, but Ren Jelly Cleanser is lovely. Starts off like a gel then turns oily then milky when you add water. Not exactly what you want but it’s good for sensitive skin, fragrance free and cruelty free. Also lovely and hydrating. If you do want something more milky though the Ren evercalm cleanser is also good.

@Damfino CeraVe but it’s not cruelty free.

I love Sukin cream cleanser I use it as a second step and in the morning,, but it does have great reviews for removing make up, I just prefer a balm first because of my SPF removal.

Anotheruser02 · 04/03/2021 16:40

Oh it's vegan and cruelty free.

ZoobyZoobyDoo · 04/03/2021 17:13

Thanks for all the ideas.

Going to take a deeper look into the Nourish and Green People options as I do want to stick to cruelty free, fragrance free and non-balm/non-wash.

I’ve used other products from both brands before and liked them so good places to start.

Any more ideas very welcome.

Anyone have any suggestions for a cleanser that is safe on eyes and can be used in the shower? Obviously if I'm wearing loads of makeup I do use a makeup remover but day to day I can't really be faffed with cleansing and I avoid cotton wool for environmental reasons so use muslins while in the shower because it's really quick and easy. My skin loves ultrabland but my washing machine and bathroom pipework really don't!

Damfino · 04/03/2021 19:31

Apologies, I missed the cruelty free bit. I hadn't realised Cerave wasn't cruelty free, I'll rethink about using it now.

Sam Bunting's Dr Sam's Flawless Cleanser is both fragrance and cruelty free, almost identical to the Cerave hydrating one.

waitingforsun · 04/03/2021 19:35

I like the look of the Lucy Bee one. Had anyone tried it?

FedNlanders · 04/03/2021 21:27

I use basic suoerdrug one its also cruelty free.

phoebemcpeepee · 04/03/2021 23:40

Another vote for avene foaming cleanser - it's lovely and does t upset my sensitive skin

howsicklyarsekissy · 04/03/2021 23:47

Dr Haushka milk cleanser brilliant at even the most stubborn eye make up mascara & gentle, kind to skin &'environment

ZoobyZoobyDoo · 05/03/2021 03:36

@Damfino Thanks. I’ve used the Sam Bunting one in the past and whilst it was good, I’m looking for a cream or lotion cleanser rather than a gel. It also made my eyes sting.

It’s possible I might circle back to it if I draw a blank at finding a cruelty free and unfragranced cream/lotion cleanser that works for me.
