One Hundred Stars kimonos

Recent thread about buying stuff online reminded me. I have lusted after one of these for a long time. I know they are 'one size' but I am a bit fat large of nork . I have asked Hundred Stars what they actually measure, but they have not replied. Is there anyone who owns one, who would be willing to take a tape measure to it, and measure the width at the top under the arms, include wrap around bit please? I know this is a pain, but I have been given some cash for a zero ending birthday, and this might be a lovely way to spend it despite them ignoring my email. Pretty please? TIA.

Don't know if this is any help but there's a photo of someone wearing one in the Plus size thread that's currently running in S&B. I've actually ordered one myself so am happy to measure it when it arrives if no one can assist in the meantime.

They're really generous - I wore one at a size 18/20 and I had 36J boobs

LaurieFairyCake · 03/03/2021 17:36

And it still looks good on me even though I'm now a small 14

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 03/03/2021 17:44

Oh thanks both! I feel I need the actual measurements, to avoid the always painful returns process, plus feeling rubbish if it's too snug on me! Which have you got @SquatBetty and @LaurieFairyCake. I think I'm probably about a 20 at the top, depends how generous the clothing. Smaller on my bottom half. I am quite tall, which also means a lot of robes feel shorter on me. I am very taken by the London map one, but I also like Budapest, and the apples and pears. So many lovely robes, for me to swan around my house in, looking glamorous lazy Grin

@SpongeBobJudgeyPants I'm getting the peacocks and poppies one

SeasonFinale · 03/03/2021 17:48

If you mean the sort jacket style ones then they will be fine for you.

I have a few and love them!

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 03/03/2021 17:52

I was going for one of the long dressing gown type ones. Peacocks and poppies is nice too! I have tried the jacket one on, in a real shop, when all around here was fields and you could... but it seemed to cut me off at a weird point, and made me look fatter unfortunately. I so wanted to love it, but alas it wasn't reciprocal.

I've just seen the short Paris kimono on the Plus thread. It looks better than it did on me. Maybe I am just more plus size!

Hi @SpongeBobJudgeyPants I have this one. It measures 26 inches across the back under the arms. Each flap at the front measures 11 inches. Do u want me to measure anywhere else?

That's me on the plus size thread. I'm a 20/22 on top if that helps.

I wanted to buy one of the long robes for a friend who's probably an 18 and decided against it as there would be no overlap (I saw it in a shop). They looked very skimpy. I bought her one from Biba which had different sizes.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 03/03/2021 19:09

@StCharlotte. Let me say, you wear it well! You look smaller than that. Are you vair tall?

@Eyjafjallajokulldottir. What pattern is your robe please? Sorry, I'm pestering you again!

SpongeBobJudgeyPants

Thanks. I'm 5'5".

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 03/03/2021 19:36

Oh, that's interesting, as I'm taller Charlotte. Either way, you look good in it. Separate issue, but @LaurieFairyCake how did you motivate yourself to lose weight? Looking for a magic cure here. No, not really, but it's always interesting. I have much smaller clothes in my wardrobe, that used to fit, but the blasted menopause seems to make it soooo much harder. Sad

Grin I had a gastric sleeve in September

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 03/03/2021 19:53

Oh that's interesting. Has it been hard to deal with?

OP posts:
LaurieFairyCake · 03/03/2021 20:11

Hard for first few weeks, but I hate soup/liquid/jelly/yoghurt - others find that much easier

Total piece of piss now - never hungry, can eat whatever I want, don't count calories - which after a lifetime of counting is fantastic

LaurieFairyCake · 03/03/2021 20:15

I'm also menopausal and I just could not eat under 1500 calories before - in fact I stuck to 1500 calories for 2 years and lost the slowest 1.5 stone possible Grin

I was hungry all the time. Frankly it was torture (have really bad arthritis so there was no way I could do proper exercise)

I now eat approximately 1000 calories a day and lose one pound a week without feeling hungry (that creates the 3,500 calories a week deficit to lose one pound)

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 03/03/2021 21:44

Thanks for sharing that. 1500 cals to lose weight that slowly sounds grim.
