Or is your wardrobe shrinking through natural attrition?.

I got some flannel PJ bottoms from Fat Face men's, and the cotton is so sturdy and thick and the pockets are massive 😮 Loads better quality than the women's equivalent.

Stopped buying from Boden years ago because of the synthetics creeping into the women's knits and coats. Prices got higher but when a £150+ coat is 50% polyester and a jumper is mostly acrylic and nylon with maybe 15% wool thrown in as a sop, they're taking the piss. Then you look at men's Boden and it's proper wool jumpers and coats 😡 So they lost me as a customer.

Bit of a rant there 😳😁

I can walk through just about any clothes shop and think
baby clothes =adorable
kids clothes = cute and practical
mens/teen boys clothes = ooh that's nice, women's and teen girls = urrrrrgh

Same here @Ilovemaisie 😕
The only clothes I've seen recently that I'd like to buy are from dodgy hit and miss sites like NewChic so I'm not going to buy them. They have loads of lovely tops/long sleeved t-shirts but I just don't trust the company enough to order any 🙁

Chicchicchicchiclana · 02/03/2021 13:36

Yanbu at all op. I am short fat and in my 50s so really difficult to make look decent, but all I want is a few staples in decent fabrics. I have a good budget.

Now the world is awash with cheap nylon clothing. Horrible.

ExConstance · 02/03/2021 13:37

Thanks for the United Colours of Benneton suggestion - i didn't realise they still existed, the knitwear looks lovely.

thedevilinablackdress · 02/03/2021 14:13

Same here, I see them on ads and think Oh My god, clothes I actually like. Then realisr it's probably a dodgy site and don't dare order.

I did get an order from everything5pounds the other week as they actually had some quite nice things and for that price it was worth a try. Unfortunately I overestimated my fatness and found many too big, but will work OK with a belt. Shoes were too small though (damn my large size 8s).
Boohoo I managed a few plain essentials but generally them and Asos I can spend hours and not find a single thing I could actually wear. Decided I mostly just hate clothes and now live in jogging bottoms and hoodies while being very thankful for my work uniform!

@shrikeattack

£25 for a vest? Umm...!

I completely agree with pp, especially comparing male and female clothing. Womens clothes just pale into comparison for both quality and practicalities. The amount of times I pick something up and realise it's see through. Why? I don't want to have to buy a second dress to wear under a dress just to maintain dignity! My other bug bear is cut outs, particularly in shoes, rendering them useless in most British weather. We desperately need a revolution in women's clothing! Comfortable, affordable, flattering, good materials and practical. Why is this not catered for?

Fluffycloudland77 · 02/03/2021 14:24

I used to love Karen millen, everything I bought was Karen millen because she cut for women with boobs, waists & hips & made clothes to flatter us.

Sometimes, and it is only sometimes, I see things in Reiss I nearly like.

I have no boobs (28D😭) but I’ve still got curves I’d like to accentuate but everywhere thinks we’re shaped like toilet roll tubes.

Men’s sales are better than women’s too, dh buys true religion jeans for £30 a pair in the sales & he looks for the women’s section for me and their still £60.

Also half the time the models are so contorted in the photos you can’t tell how something fits. Last year I saw Zara model crouching on top of a gas hob.

I feel this is an unlikely event in anyone’s life and even rarer in women with the mental capacity to buy their own clothes but obviously the stylist that day thought it would sell.

Vanity sizing pisses me off too, I’m the same size I was at 18 but I’ve gone from a 10 to a 6 in 26 years. How?.

@thedevilinablackdress I’ll look at that list later thank you.

@Fluffycloudland77 Have you tried looking at Mango? I think we're quite similar in height/ shape (I'm also a size 6) and it's my favourite shop for day to day clothes. It's very reasonable and lots of their clothes are made from natural fibres. I also like their children's clothes so order my DD's clothes from there too.

I like Reiss for occasion dresses (sale price only!) and I live in M&S cashmere jumpers in the Winter. They normally have offers with 20% off throughout the year and they are machine washable.

grey12 · 02/03/2021 15:38

Same Sad I tend to like men's fashion: better fabrics, more modest cuts, cool graphics, but they don't suit my body at all. I would need a tailor for everything Confused

It's a struggle...... about to do a post about advice on jeans........

Fluffycloudland77 · 02/03/2021 15:39

I will look at mango.

Dh must be sick of me in the same clothes all the time.

DH IS sick of me wearing the same things over again!

COS can be nice

Chimeraforce · 02/03/2021 16:56

Same. I'm not ashamed to admit my partner picks fantastic clothes for me. 👍👍
When I look it all looks like nylon crap with weird puffy sleeves, frills or a tacky looking necklace embellishment.
