Developed a serious shpock habit. Anyone else?

I've never bought second hand, would never even be seen in a charity shop for fear of people thinking we were struggling. In the last 5 months I've discovered shpock. I absolutely love it. I've had some fantastic bargains. Including:

-m&s padded long winter coat £11
-next padded long winter coat £6
-wool coat (forget the brand but designer)

All fit like gloves.

-2 silk All saints dresses
-next leather loafers
-next leather boots
-boden teal tunic
-tan leather handbag
-fat face bag for dog walking
-multiple blouses for work
-trainers and boots for dog walking

All at a fraction of the cost and all either brand new with tags or minimal wear. I've had 2 duds, one top that didn't fit, one that looked far more worn than the picture.

I love everything about it, searching for something, putting a cheeky bid in, winning it, waiting for it to arrive, quarantining it. Its almost become a hobby.

Does anyone else love shopping for pre-loved clothes? Any suggestions for other sites?

I looked at something called Vinted at the weekend, as someone on MN recommended it. I immediately found a Boden shirt I've been desperate for - £99 on their website, and best ebay price is £59.99. I got it for £20 including postage. It hasn't arrived yet, but I'm optimistic...

Tulipsy272 · 01/03/2021 15:28

Thats a brilliant deal! Its a great feeling isn't it?!

You've just reminded me that I also bought a boden shirt, new with tags, think I paid about £12 for that.

I get all my clothes second hand from eBay, so this is not a snob thing, but I always assume that brand new with tags means shoplifted.

Tulipsy272 · 01/03/2021 15:39

Oh god, that didn't even cross my mind! Although I always check the sellers other items and they've always looked like genuine sellers (a mix of stuff in the same sizing, some used, old kids clothes etc)

And my boden shirt came in its plastic wrapping which it wouldn't have if it had been lifted, last season too.

I given stuff to charity shops with tags on that I definitely didn't shoplift!

ShyAmy333 · 01/03/2021 18:12

I've got some amazing bargains on ebay, Karen Millen dress and Faith shoes for example

LadyTiredWinterBottom2 · 01/03/2021 18:46

Just because it has tags doesn't mean it's been stolen. Everyone has been clearing their closets out and many women have items still with the tags on.

I have bought quite a few things from Vinted, it tends to be cheaper than e Bay.

Whatflavourjellybabyisnice · 01/03/2021 18:49

I'm using Vinted too. Amazing condition stuff and it's good prices.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 01/03/2021 22:07

I buy a lot on Depop and have had fab bargains. I have also sold BNWT stuff, and it has largely been because I missed the return cutoff date, absolutely none of it was shoplifted!

Ninkanink · 01/03/2021 22:25

I’ve sold lots of BNWT items on eBay and they’ve definitely not been shoplifted... Hmm

Enjoy your bargains, OP!

theorangesisters · 01/03/2021 23:54

I buy lots from Depop, Vinted, Ebay.

Re-fashion and Thrift + are great online charity shops.

I love browsing and adding things to my wish list. There is so much choice, excellent bargains and it's so much better for the planet.

JaneExotic · 02/03/2021 03:28

Could we buy and sell on here? I am doing a mass clear out soon and can’t be arsed with auction!

schmalex · 02/03/2021 05:52

Try Vinted, @JaneExotic. It's not an auction and addictively easy to sell on! I've been buying loads on there lately.

RubaiyatOfAnyone · 02/03/2021 07:44

Glad to be corrected Smile
I really wasn’t trying to be mean, I genuinely couldn’t imagine anyone having bought stuff at new prices (especially multiple items) and been uninterested enough in it to leave the tags in. But that’s probably because my clothes budget for the year is equivalent to one new top in a high street shop.

Will henceforth expand my searches from “used” to “bnwt” Grin

Ninkanink · 02/03/2021 08:51

I only ever buy clothes at vastly reduced prices. So anything I do sell on eBay I usually get back the same or more than what I actually paid.
