Interesting. I am not a fan of hers but she knows her stuff, and there does seem to be a proliferation of "experts" on YT and Insta.

Oh dear. I've seen her on TV as well, so maybe she doesn't need YT anymore? Maybe? I'm not a big fan, but she isn't wrong about 'experts' on SM! They're everywhere.

LadyTiredWinterBottom2 · 26/02/2021 16:54

There are more unqualified 'experts' on Insta. I suspect it's more to do with trolling and not getting the same traction as she does on other platforms. Deleting them seems a bit unnecessary though, she could leave them up for future ref (and views).

Ponks · 26/02/2021 17:44

Apparently she's leaving up her instructional videos, just taking down the more personal stuff & vlogs.

Marsis · 26/02/2021 23:36

I think it’s more likely she’s covering her tracks . One day she loves something the next she hates it, probably because they won’t pay her to schill it.

FlyingByTheSeatof · 27/02/2021 03:38

Fair enough. I was a big fan then wasnt and now I'm just not sure.

I think she's probably re-evaluating herself as she's come a long way and does promote many products some of which she wasn't so fond of in the beginning, but were actually very good products for a lot of people.

Plus she is causing people to spend too much on unneccessary skin care and it's all got a bit out of hand and people are confused and out of pocket.

Her advice no matter what people think or say about her has transformed my skin so I will be forever grateful to her and her passion for skin care.

She was the first of her kind IMHO to make us really, properly aware of how to use certain products for our specific skin type.

I do still pop onto her Blog pages to look at her cheat sheets to check up on things so I guess I will always be a fan in one way or another.

FlyingByTheSeatof · 27/02/2021 03:42

In fact I feel a certain loyalty to her expertise now that there are so many others who have jumped on the skincare bandwagon and she does have the experience those others lack.

I get really cross at DD 13 who sees these other skin care people on insta or wherever who are telling her to buy completely inappropriate products which can damage her skin and CH does not do this, she does give good knowledgable advice. I guess I am a fan then.

ProfessorInkling · 27/02/2021 10:42

In a similar vein Sam and Nic Chapman have deleted their entire YT channel.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 27/02/2021 12:29

The irony of CH leaving YouTube because of unqualified “experts” when she has positioned herself alongside actual doctors and dermatologists from the start!

Exactly!

CH isn't anymore qualified than the people she is railing against. She has an esthetician qualification, but I couldn't find details about the course when I looked in to it out of curiosity a while ago. She also claims to have completed courses by brands on their products. So basically she has been taught how to sell those products by the brands in question, she is a glorified saleswoman. Yet many people think she is qualified to give the advice she dispenses. It's all bollocks.

Esbm2015 · 27/02/2021 18:59

Sounds like more and more people on social media esp insta who tell us where to travel, what to eat, drink etc when in fact they’ve never touched any of them personally or visited these places. So fed up of so called influencers and experts who are just in it for freebies and followers.

Melange99 · 27/02/2021 19:10

It's another form of advertising. If you follow anybody on Insta etc, as long as you realise it's all about the sell, it is harmless enough if you can resist their blandishments. They do encourage mindless consumerism though, particularly those outfit of the day, or those haul vlogs. If they are not advertising product, they are advertising themselves.

I like her. Whatever qualifications she does/doesn’t have her advice works.
Plus her customer service is world class she takes full responsibility and has integrity
