Hiut jeans

Does anyone have them? In particular the Coda. The only pictures I can find are on the Hiut model the and I’m pretty sure I do not have her proportions, especially I am chunkier of thigh.
My current favourites are from Howies, but they changed the model names every couple of years and I can’t remember what they are called.

I have a pair of the girlfriend jeans and I hate to admit it but they are very nice jeans and I’m really glad I bought them. Their size/measuring guide was useful. Got the right size first time.
This is no issue, but don’t underestimate the feeling of no stretch in them at all, however every single other pair of jeans I own has stretch in of some varying amount - they are comfy, but think will take a little longer to ‘soften’ up.
I am a short, sized 16, sturdidly thighed 42 yr old (man that’s a sell and a half!).

@CardiCorgi, you could contact Howies and ask them.

The Hiut Coda jeans look good.

CardiCorgi · 26/02/2021 13:16

@KirstenBlest yes, maybe I should do that. I bought them in the shop they used to have on Cardigan high street, but I’ve had them so long I would be surprised if they do the same style.

@Mbear sturdy is good, sturdy gets you up hills and over rivers (and who wants a modelling contract anyway?). I am also strong of thigh, which makes me wonder if the girlfriend style might be better. Basically I want jeans like DH has, just straight but with the ability to accommodate my hips and behind. I have a fantasy shopping basket with three styles in it, just have to whittle it down to one.

I’m happy to pay the Hiut price, considering how much I wear jeans the cost per wear will be very low and I know where the money is going.

@Mbear can I ask, what are the pockets like on the Hiut? Eg, are they deep or shallow and do they have that half-denim, half-cotton thing going on that my cheap jeans do? Sorry if this seems a strange question, but jeans pockets are always working their way out and it's annoying me!
Thanks in advance 🙂

Mbear · 26/02/2021 18:47

@WrinklesShminkles sorry was working (or Friday pretending to!) anyhoo I have taken pictures.. ta dah! By the sounds of it they won’t be any good? They are the half cotton thing, although they seem to stay down fine. I also have teeny tiny hands (oh I am a catch!) so for me they are fine.

Mbear · 26/02/2021 18:57

@CardiCorgi it might be worth speaking to them - they seem very friendly and wanting to help. Or buy all 3 Grin

WrinklesShminkles · 26/02/2021 19:01

Wow thanks Mbear, that's really helpful. They don't look too bad - probably better than Levi's!

KirstenBlest · 26/02/2021 19:10

Some Levi's pockets are too short. I've not worn mine for a while and you've just reminded me why. I have short arms and need deep pockets Smile

Mbear · 26/02/2021 19:23

@WrinklesShminkles no worries - they call themselves grandmasters or something along those lines, and that combined with their prices means that I’m sure they wouldn’t have shoddy pockets!

I have 6 pairs of Hiut jeans, including the Coda (they were my first pair). I love them, great quality but as others have said, there is no give at all so it's really important that they fit you well so they're not uncomfortable moving around.

Also be aware that with raw denim some of the blue dye will rub off on to things your jeans touch for a while so no sitting on white leather sofas or wearing cream jumpers with them (yes, I have learnt this lesson the hard way).

The Girlfriend or Eira might be a better fit for you than the Coda (or Dina) if you want a little more room on the thighs.

HundredMilesAnHour · 26/02/2021 23:06

Alternatively, have a look at Blackhorse Lane Ateliers for jeans. They are on a par with Hiut (although considered a bit cooler than Hiut) and are London's only craft jeans maker.

Love my Coda, jeans and I'm an apple. They're not pinchy on the waist and give a simple long silhouette even in my size 16. Agree they might not be the best shape for the op. But if anyone else is considering jeans from Hiut, the quality is wonderful and the sizing info accurate.

CardiCorgi · 01/03/2021 11:03

Thanks everybody for the help. I’ve come to the conclusion that the Girlfriend would be a better fit, but maybe I’ll contact Hiut directly too.
