Genius move to save them money and repair their fast fashion/poor sustainability image or will it backfire?

Article on the bbc about it www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/business-56182085 and I thought it was worth a discussion.

I don’t think people really go to Primark for the latest fashion trends, they go for nice clothes at a reasonable price.

Is it just me or are there no definite fashion trends anymore? But also never anything much inspiring or of high quality, either in Primark or anywhere else on the highstreet. I'm sure this is something that most people have noticed over the past several years or so, I heard that Britain tends to get the dregs of the fashion industry now since Brexit, not sure if that's true. I tend to only decide myself what it is I'm after and look for it usually online, hunting for the best quality of whatever it is at the best price I can get it, I don't really browse anymore, the shops aren't as full of goodies as they used to be, it seems to me.

Is this an idea? Surely its what you should do? If you've got loads of stock, sell it?

I doubt anyone would know if they didn't tell us it was last years

@BreakfastAtSquiffanys

The alternative is landfill?
Burberry got terrible press a few years ago after dumping a few million quid of stock in an incinerator. I expect they wanted to make sure non of the waste staff could take it and run the image of their brand.

I can't wait to go shopping. I have lost a stone and have been working out an hour a day, 6 days a week for the last 2 months and I am feeling good. I have a half to 3/4 of a stone to my goal weight. I have been a big frump for the past 16 years and it's time for my former, fabulous self to reappear.

No more frumpy summer stuff for me. I am going to singlehandedly plug that covid finance gap with new clothes and gorgeous, gorgeous stuff.

Ooh well done MyOldSelf that is fantastic. Good for you!

Whilst not throwing away last year's stock is good, it seems a bit of 'greenwash' given that fast fashion is the second largest cause of climate change, and they are one of the most guilty.

HiPieInTheSky · 26/02/2021 07:47

Sure I read some time ago about Marks and Spencer holding onto some of last summers stock to sell this year as well.
