Sunglasses

I would love a new pair of sunglasses this year but am not sure if I need to go designer for good quality or whether there are cheaper brands out there that still protect your eyes well. Any advice please? Thanks 😊

whenever I have more expensive sunnies I notice how much better they are - but I am dreadful for losing them and limit how many pairs I allow myself. You can get good bargains on Brand Alley, so worth keeping an eye out there

I have these. Not extortionate but really good.

Thanks @Rhythmisadancer. You are probably right. And @StCharlotte those are lovely. Are they oversized? I quite like the look of oversized on me.

@Lockandtees I guess that was my question really. Should I be buying designer to get quality protection or do I not need to pay that much?

All sunglasses sold in the UK legally have to have full UV protection. Obviously this may not apply to sunglasses from dodgy websites. But anything from a shop or a reputable UK website should be fine. I’m a big believer in quality frames though, but in terms if protection there is no significant difference

TK Maxx. I've not spent more than £15 on a pair of sunnies in years.

MamaT1992 · 26/02/2021 07:03

Thanks@Alocasia that's good to know.

I don't buy expensive sunglasses any more as I've lost too many pairs. M&S usually have a nice range and I got a lovely pair in Accessorise a couple of years ago.

I do stick with a couple of brands, Ray Ban being one of them, I can tell the difference in the overall quality of the lenses and frames and I prefer polarized.

More expensive fashion brands so I was told by an optician are nearly all made by the same company,

Have a look at the likes of TKmaxx as suggested above, I have had some great bargains from there, as I do like different colours, and if your wanting a certain brand they have lots at the moment, but still come back to my trusty Ray Bans

Thanks *@Rhythmisadancer. You are probably right. And @StCharlotte* those are lovely. Are they oversized? I quite like the look of oversized on me.
Yes they are oversized but not to a Victoria Beckham extent.

Also make sure you get polarized - makes a massive difference. I also have polarized Raybans. They're good but not as good as the Serengetis.

I believe you get what you pay for although I wouldn't buy sunglasses from fashion designers.

I've heard Maui Jim sunglasses are good as well.
