Retinol - argh the itch

Hi,

Wondered if anyone had any similar retinol experiences.

I started using a retinol cream by origins a couple of months ago. I use it every other night and for the 2 months or so I had no side effects. Now after around 3 + months the day after I put it on my skin is soooo itchy and dry.

I've gone down to putting it on every 3rd night but all my googling shows to expect itchy redness at the start and your skin would get used to it. Yet mine has happened after I've been using it a while.

Argh the itch on my cheeks is driving me mad! I think I am starting to see results so loathe to give it up.

Any advice much appreciated!

Thank you

I get the itch after a few hours use so I put it on as soon as I get up and wear it as long as possible - usually 4 hours

My dentist told me to do that as the active ingredient penetrates within a couple of hours - she described it as goes down through the skin layers to the most damaged part and loosens them and brings it to the surface so it eventually sloughs away

She said the itching is the irritation on the topmost layers so once it's gone through it's fine to wash it off - she just said leave it as long as possible

Like you I'm getting results and won't be giving it up Grin
